Kőnig Frigyes: Az Oszlopsor című sorozat . Néhány évvel ezelőtt a zadari Szent Donát-templom látogatása során lettem figyelmes arra, hogy az épület alapozásához ókori épület elemeit, illetve töredékeit használták fel. Jól megfigyelhetőek voltak faragott részletek, kannelúrás oszloptöredékek. A IX. században épült keresztény templom a római kori Fórum területén, az egykori bazilika maradványai felhasználásával készült. Az egykori szakrális épület elemei egy új templom fundamentumául szolgálnak. Ezek az oszlopok nem tartanak semmit, nem hordoznak nehéz terheket, a növekedés stádiumában vannak. Az értelem és rendezettség oszlopai: ugyanazok, amelyek a világrend és jogrend megjelenítőiként egykor törvényeket hordoztak önmagukon, ugyanazok, amelyek Platónnál a törvény és a rend tartópillérei. Megegyeznek a Jób Könyvében is említett ég oszlopaival, avagy a Föld oszlopaival, amelyek még, ha inog is a Föld, erősen tartják azt. 

Ráció, szépség, tudás, arányosság, szilárdság, fragmentum. Hívószavak, amelyek éppúgy felkavarják a kollektív emlékezet mélytengerét, ahogy egy zadari utazás efemer élménytöredékeit. Ikonográfiailag telített - fontoskodik a bölcsész. És valóban: a dór oszlopokban ott zeng az antikvitás nagy tradíciója, a rendezettség és befejezettség megvalósult teljessége. Oszlopokból szőtt erdő - így az író. És szemünk előtt az architektúra őserejű organizmusként burjánzik, növekszik, majd beomlik, szétmállik, elporlad. 2010 Blues - gondolja Kőnig Frigyes. És belátva a múlt hibátlan rekonstrukciójának képtelenségét, vállalva az emlékezés szabálytalanságát, maga is romokat konstruál, szinkópa ritmusba rendezett, nosztalgia-kékbe mártott, lélek-kékbe merített, tradíció és modernitás vizéből egyaránt táplálkozó saját képi rendet. Rajzol, akvarellezik, fest, mintáz, olykor leíró aprólékossággal, máskor expresszív lendülettel, egyszer a porózus anyag bűvöletében, másszor elvont térélmények alkotójaként. A felgyűrődött időrétegek /korstílusok, iskolák, trendek/ itt kisimulnak. A dolgok azok - amik: faragott kövek, porózus matériák. Csakhogy ezek a romok nem egy visszavonhatatlanul letűnt világ maradványai, hanem olyan töredékek, amelyek mélyen jelenünkbe ágyazottak, múlhatatlan szépségük pedig a szüntelen növekedés, újjászületés ígéretét hordozza magában. Nem kevés ez, így 2010-ben Európa szívében. . Révész Emese

Frigyes Kőnig: The Colonnade series . Upon visiting Zadar's Church of St. Donat a few years back, I discovered that components and fragments of the ancient structure that once stood in its place were used for the foundation of the building. The carved details and cannelured column fragments were clearly visible. During the construction of the Christian church building, which took place in the 9th century in the area which served as the Forum in Roman times, the remains of the former basilica were utilised. The components of the old sacral building provided the foundation for a new church. These columns are not holding anything in place, they do not bear heavy burdens; they are at a stage of growth. They are the columns of sense and order, the same columns which, as representatives of universal and legal order, once bore laws and were the pillars of Platonic law and order. They are identical to the pillars of heaven mentioned in the Book of Job, or the pillars of the earth, which, however strongly the earth may shake, hold it firmly in place. 

Reason, beauty, knowledge, proportion, solidity, fragments. Buzzwords that rouse the deep seas of collective remembering just as they stir up the ephemeral memory mosaics of a trip to Zadar. Iconographically loaded, philosophises the officious academic. And indeed, the Doric columns resonate with the great tradition of antiquity, with the manifest entirety of order and completion. In the words of a writer: a forest woven of columns.  And the architecture proliferates, grows and then collapses, decays and turns to dust like a powerful, ancient organism, right before our eyes. 2010 Blues, muses Frigyes Kőnig. Admitting to the inconceivability of a perfect reconstruction of the past and embracing the irregularity of remembering, he, too, constructs ruins; a unique, personal visual order - dipped in nostalgia-blue, submerged in soul-blue - which is organised into a syncopal rhythm and builds on both tradition and modernity. He draws, uses water colour, paints and models, sometimes with descriptive meticulousness, at other times with expressive momentum, enchanted by porous material one moment, creating abstract special experiences the next. Here, the accumulated layers of time /period styles, schools, trends/ are smoothed out. Things are what they are: carved stones, porous materials. These ruins, however, are not the remains of an irreversibly vanished world; they are fragments that are deeply imbedded in our present whose everlasting beauty carries the promise of perpetual growth and rebirth. This is quite something, today, in 2010, in the heart of Europe. . Emese Révész
