Kapitány András közel 15 éve azokat a jelenségeket kutatja, miként válik egy építészeti konstrukció szoborrá a számítógép virtuális terében. Munkáiban nagy szerepet kap a véletlen, a tervezés folyamán a computer esetleges hibáiból adódó felfedezések kreatív felhasználása. Az így létrejövő szétesett szerkezetek, egymásba csúszó, egymásba forduló dekonstruált terek különleges szépségű, expresszív hatású kompozíciókat eredményeznek, amelyek szoborszerű formákká állnak össze. A kompozíciók biomorf, élő szervezeteket is felidéznek, amellyel egy élő, lüktető, örvénylő, önmagát alakító építészet kialakulását vetítik előre. Az utópikus szerkezetek esetleges jövőbeli alternatív lakóépületként való felhasználásának víziói valóságos szobrok formájában jelennek meg a kiállításon.
For nearly 15 years András Kapitány studied how architectural constructs become sculptures in virtual space. Chance has a large role in his work; he uses the occasional mistakes generated by the computer in his design process. The resulting disintegrated structures, deconstructed spaces merging into one another create unusually beautiful and expressive compositions that are assembled into sculpture-like forms. The compostitions evoke living organisms, which predicts the development of a living, moving, self-shaping organic architecture in the future. The vision of using these utopic structures as alternative hosing structures in the future appears in the form of sculptures in this exhibition.

A szobrászat, mint építészet
A szobrászat és az építészet egyaránt techné, mesterség volt a görögöknél. Techtón azaz mester volt az ács, aki felrakta a gerendákat a háztető építésekor. Még pontosabban a ház
építésekor, mert az egész égei tengeri térségben gerendavázas házakat építettek és a falakat vesszőfonatra agyag-tapasztással készítették el. Az építészet neve - nyelvészetileg - a
legfőbb mesterség, az ős-mesterség /arché-techné, arché-techtura/ kifejezésből ered Martin Heidegger szerint. Az ácsmester ezek szerint olyan mesterség - a legősibb mesterség -
tudója, amelyet az istenek a világ teremtésekor is már ismertek. A világ úgy nyerte el a formáját, az alakját, hogy az istenek megépítették, felépítették. Ennek megfelelni látszik a mai
nyelvekben a building angol, a Bildung német szóalak, de az aedificatoria olasz szó is, ami építést, kiképzés jelent. A Bildende Kunst /német, képzőművészet/ és az edukáció /latin, képzés/
szó is ezt bizonyítja. Rengeteg munkával és hozzáértéssel a legtökéletesebben elkészíteni valamit kiképezni a végső formát és tartalmat, ez a building, Bildung, aedifice. A mai ember nem
is érti, hogy mi az összefüggés a body-building /a testépítés/ és a building /épület/ szavak között etimológiailag. A hozzáértés, a formateremtés tudása. Egyik esetben, ha valakinek fontos
hogy rettenetes izmai legyenek, másik esetben, ha valakinek az a fontos hogy kifejező korszerű épületet alkosson.
De a helyzet azért mégsem ilyen egyszerű, hiszen az egykori görög és a mai angolszász nyelvek és kultúra között azért elég jelentős fejezet, az antik római, latin nyelv és kultúra, majd a
latinos európai műveltség, a jog, az orvoslás és a tudományok lingua latina-ja. Ami közvetített és meg is határozott, genetikusan összetartott bizonyos műveltségtípusokat.
A mai nyelvekben általánosan használt struktúra kifejezés a latin struare = felrak igéből származtatható. A kézművességnek azt az ősi /neolitikus/ technikáját jelenti, amit a korongozás
megjelenése előtt az edénykészítésben is alkalmaztak. Az agyaghurkákból felrakott edény, a vályogból felrakott kemence, a vesszőfonatra tapasztott gabonahombár, vagy az egyszerű kör
alaprajzú kunyhó építése más szemléletet, mesterséget bizonyít, mint a gerendavázas építés. Az etruszkoktól tanulták a latinok a masszív téglafalak építésének tudását. Ez elemi
építőkockákból felrakott tömegszerű massza, és nem elemi rudakból összerakott gerendaszerkezet. A plasztikus formaképző tudás, az agyag plasztika ismerete, más archetípus a
mesterségek között, de lagalább olyan ősi, mint a gerendaépítés. Az agyagplasztika felrakása, amit az etruszk építők műveltek ugyan az, mint amit a szobrászok művelnek, amikor tanulnak,
vagy a szobrot vázlatosan először létrehozzák. Aztán persze, mivel a szobrászat is egy szakma /techné, mesterség/ tudják mi a módja annak, hogy ebből az agyagformából gipsz, bronz,
krómacél, vagy akár poliészter szobor legyen. De eredetileg ez az agyagozás, ami a kéz lenyomatát viselte magán ez volt a latin konstruálás. A téglasorokból éppígy épült a ház is, így lett
az építés ige szinonimája a konstruálás a rómaiaknál. A rómaiak a vályog, tégla, kő, soronként felrakását és a gerendaszerkezetek összeépítését egyaránt a konstrukció szóval írták le. A fa
gerendákból építő ács technika, ami ekkor már a ház befejezését a tető megépítését jelentette is konstrukció lett. A középkorban sok név elkallódott soknak a jelentése változott meg, így
lehet az, hogy ma konstrukciónak a gerendákból szerkesztő építést tartjuk. A konstrukció /konstruare - összerakás/ szó a szerkezet az összeszerkesztett építményt, a struktúra szó pedig,
valamilyen szabály szerint - akár az ember közreműködése nélkül is - elrendeződő anyagi rendet, építményt jelöl. A struktúra fogalom materiális, de kulturális, társadalmi és szemiotikai
értelemmel is rendelkezik, a természet legelemibb szervetlen formáitól egészen az internet-használatáig struktúrákról beszélünk. És épp a computer-programozás, vagy a hálózatba állított
gépek rendszerei esetében szokás architektúráról is beszélni. A rendszerek belső viszonyaiban hierarchikus és hálózatos elrendeződés, mint alapvető típus különböztethető meg. Ez a két
típus az elemi organizmusok felépülésében épp úgy megfigyelhető, mint a gigantikus hidak, csarnokok technikai tartószerkezeteiben, de a vállalatok, üzleti szervezetek felépülésében is. A
szobrász, az építész, a piaci stratéga - ami itt ugyan az - éppúgy megépíti a szobrot, épületet, vállalatot, mint a rendszergazda a gépek hálózatát. Elemi részekből, maroknyi agyag-
falatokból, szerkezeti rudakból, célra szervezett csoportokból, vagy épp számítógépekből hoz létre architektúrát. Mindegyik épít, konstruál, a szó legősibb értelmében, de a legmaibb
jelentésével. Ekként tehát a formaadás szándéka, a building, a Bildung, az aedificatoria, mint mesterség architectúrát, építményt hoz létre. A formaképzés, a struktúra-alkotás, akár

Sculpture as architecture
Sculpture and architecture were both techne, professions in ancient Greece. The carpenter who put up the beams of the roof of a house was a techton. To be more specific, the
carpenter participated in the construction of the entire house, since in the Aegean-sea region they built wood frame buildings, and filled them in with clay on a weave of smaller twigs. The
name architecture originally meant the arch-profession /arche-techne, arche-tectura/, according to Martin Heidegger. Carpentry is a vocation known to man since creation. The world
took its shape by the gods building it up. The words in modern languages reflect the same idea, the English 'building' the German 'Bildung', and even the Italian 'aedificatoria', which
mean building, shaping. The 'Buldende Kunst /German, fine arts/ and the education /Latin/ words also prove the same. Making something with tremendous work and expertise to outmost
perfection, shaping the final form and content is 'building', Bildung' and 'aedifice'. People nowadays don't even understand the connection between body-building and building,
etymologically. Both are the science of creating shapes. In one, building terrifyingly large muscles is the goal, in the other, creating expressive buildings.
This is overly simplistic, however, since between ancient Greek and modern Anglo-Saxon languages and culture there is a significant chapter of history: ancient Rome, the Latin language
and culture, followed by the lingua Latina of European culture, law, medicine and sciences. The Latin language defined and held together certain areas of scholarship. The word
'structure' found in different forms in modern languages stems from the Latin verb struare = to put up. It refers to the ancient /Neolithic/ artisan technique, used even in pottery before the
invention of the potter's wheel. The pot made of rods of clay, the oven built with adobe, the grain-holder constructed by filling a weave of twigs with clay, or the construction of a simple
circular hut each reflect a different profession and building philosophy than wood-frame construction. The Romans learned the art of building massive brick walls from the Etruscans. The
large mass assembled from small building blocks, with the wood frame structure made of rods and beams. The knowledge of the plastic properties of clay, and how to use it to create
shapes, is another archetype among the professions, almost as ancient as carpentry. The work the Etruscan builders performed when they used clay is the same work that sculptors do
today when they create the overall shape of their sculptures. Then, since sculpture is a profession as well /techne/, sculptors know how to make plaster, bronze, chrome, or even polyester
sculptures from the initial clay shape. But originally this work with clay, which bares handprints on it, was the Latin 'construction'. Houses were built from rows of bricks just like this, making the
verb 'to build' synonymous with 'to construct' for the Romans. The Romans used the word 'construction' to describe both the laying of adobe, bricks, or stones into rows and the building of
the timber structure. Carpentry work, which now only meant the construction of wooden roof structures onto a house to finish it, also became 'construction'. A lot of phrases and
meanings changed or were lost during the Middle Ages, this is how 'konstrució' came to mean only the building of timber structures in Hungarian. 'Konstrució' /konstruare - to put things
together/ now refers to the finished building while the word 'struktúra' means the arrangement, according to certain rules - and in the case of materials, even without human intervention -
of elements within a building. The concept of 'struktúra' is material, but also has cultural, social, and semiotic meanings, we talk of structures when referring to the most basic inorganic
forms in nature to the use of the internet. In computer programming and the networks of computers we also talk about the systems' architecture. These systems have hierarchic and web
arrangements in their internal structure. These two types can be found in the structure of basic organisms as well as in the structures of gigantic bridges and the load bearing structures of
large halls, but also in the internal structures of large companies and businesses as well. The sculptor, the architect, the market strategist all create sculptures, buildings or companies in the
same way as a programmer builds a network of computers. They build a system's architecture from basic elements, handfuls of clay, structural rods, groups of people, or computers. They
all build or 'construct' in the most ancient sense of the word, but also in its most modern meaning. In this way the intention of creating a shape, 'building', Bildung', 'aedificatoria' as
professions all create 'architecture', a building. The creating of shapes and structures, sculpture and architecture, are essentially one. Sándor Sólymos 20 11 2009

18.00 Budapesti Olimpia 2020/ Budapest Olympics 2020
A kiállítás bemutatja a 2020-as budapesti olimpia megrendezésével kapcsolatos aktuális információkat, tényeket, fejleményeket. Tájékoztatót ad a városfejlesztési javaslatokról és a pályázati előkészítés lépéseiről. A térségalkalmassági hatásvizsgálat előrevetíti a lehetséges helyszíneket és a budapesti infrastruktúra fejlesztés követelményeit. Bemutatásra kerül a törvénytervezet, amelyet Budapest Főváros Közgyűlése egyhangúlag elfogadott és elfogadásra javasolt az Országgyűlésnek. Bemutatjuk a 2009 nyarán lebonyolított hallgatói tervpályázat anyagát is.
A kiállításhoz kapcsolódóan beszélgetéssorozatot szervezünk.
The exhibition showcases the latest information, facts, and developments on Budapest's bid for the 2020 Olympics. It also provides information on the urban planning suggestions and the process of preparing for the bid. The analysis of the effects of such a huge event on the city reveals possible locations for the venues as well as the infrastructure developments necessary.
Introduced is the draft of the bill on the bid that was unanimously accepted by the Budapest Government, and sent over to the Parliament. Also shown in the exhibition are the materials from the student design competition held in summer of 2009.
A discussion series will be held in connection with the exhibition.
