keretében*

A politikai gondolatok vizuális kommunikációjának lehetőségeiről, 
eszközeiről és módszereiről rendezünk workshopot nemzetközi dizájnerek 
és elméleti szakemberek vezetésével, melynek célja, hogy olyan elméleti 
és gyakorlati tudással gazdagodjunk, amely segíti az emberi 
szabadságjogok melletti kiállást, támogatja a társadalmi 
felelősségvállalást és szolidaritást. A zártkörű workshophoz 
kapcsolódóan nyilvános prezentációt és beszélgetést szervezünk, melyre 
mindenkit szeretettel várunk!

*Yvonne P. Dorerer*, építész, urbanista, kultúrakutató, a Fachhochschule 
Düsseldorf professzora; a város- és térelméletek, a gender kutatások, 
valamint a kortárs művészet és kultúra metszéspontjaival foglalkozik

mint esettanulmány*
Az új évezred első évtizede Thaiföldön a politikai instabilitás idejét 
hozta el.  Tüntetések sorozatát és egy katonai puccsot követően 
leváltották az egykori iparmágnás miniszterelnököt. Az ország két részre 
bomlott: a sárga /sokszínű és a piros trikósok tábora állt szemben 
egymással.  E viszály közepette a birodalom egyre hevesebb politikai 
manipulációk és manőverek áldozatásul esett. Az ez idő alatt felvirágzó 
politikai dizájn - tükrözve mindkét tábor jellegzetességeit -, hozzá 
tudott járulni a civil megmozdulások sikerességéhez, miközben az 
osztálytársadalmak komplex szerkezetét is megjelenítette. Keiko Sei 
előadásában a thaiföldi politikai dizájn közelmúltbeli példáit veszi sorra.

A Design & People kollektíva a hátrányos helyzetben --- politikai, 
környezeti ártalmak közt, háború sújtotta területeken, különböző 
fogyatékkal  --- élők megsegítésére irányuló, véget nem érő küzdelmekhez 
kíván a dizájn által hozzájárulni. A grafikusokat, ipari tervezőket és 
építészeket  tömörítő szervezet szakmai tapasztalatával és képességével 
szociális és civil ügyeket szolgál. Missziója: dizájnt a rászorulóknak!

önkormányzás lehetőségét*
A Stuttgart 21 elnevezésű vasútfejlesztési és ingatlanbefektetési 
projekt körül kialakult konfliktusok és az ennek nyomán formálódó 
ellenállási mozgalom a /RE-DESIGNING THE EAST Political Design in Asia 
and Europe/ kiállítás új fejezetét nyitotta meg (Württembergischer 
Kunstverein, Stuttgart; 2010. szeptember 25. -- 2011. január 2.). Az 
előadás során a /Hogyan ne vegyék ki kezünkből az önkormányzás 
lehetőségét/ című, Michel Foucault kormányzás-elméletére utaló projekt 
kerül bemutatásra.

Az előadásokat beszélgetés követi, amelyek a február 27-29. között 
megrendezésre kerülő workshop keretében folytatódnak.
Az előadások nyelve angol.
A belépés ingyenes.

POLITICAL DESIGN WORKSHOP*

*Public presentations > 25/02/2012. 2-6 pm, Trafó Café*

Our political design workshop is being organized about the 
possibilities, resources and methods for the communication of political 
thinking, held by international designers and theoreticians. The aim of 
the workshop is to gain the theoretical and practical knowledge which 
helps to form opinions supporting human rights and franchise, and, that 
promotes social responsibility and solidarity. In the frame of this 
programme Trafó launches a public presentation and a talk. All are welcome!

Lecturers:
*Sethu Das* (Kerala, India) designer, co-founder of the Design & People 
collective
*Yvonne P. Dorerer*, architect, urban researcher, Professor for Cultural 
Studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, focusing on 
the linkage of urban/spatial theories, gender studies, culture and 
contemporary art, and runs the "Office of Transdisciplinary Research and 
Cultural Production" in Stuttgart.

*Keiko Sei* (currently works in Thailand), media theorist, curator

 > 15.00- 15.45 Keiko SEI: Political turmoil and Design - The Case 
Thailand *
The new millennium has been the decade of political instability in 
Thailand. A business tycoon-turned Prime Minister was ousted after a 
series of rallies and the coup. The country has been divided into two 
camps that are known as yellow/multi-color shirts and red shirts. In 
this division the monarchy has been used for political manipulation and 
maneuver which is becoming more and more intense. Political design has 
flourished during this period, reflecting on characteristics of both 
camps, contributing to empower citizens' movement, while swimming 
through the complex web of class society. Keiko Sei is going to present 
the recent examples of political design in Thailand.

*Design & People* identify how design can intervene to make a 
contribution to the on-going efforts to improve the lives of people 
disadvantaged by war, disability, and political and environmental 
conditions. We unite and encourage graphic, industrial and architectural 
designers to use their experience and skills in social and humanitarian

That*
The conflicts about the railway and real estate project Stuttgart 21 and 
the formation of a resistance movement against this project have been 
the starting point to develop a new section within the exhibition 
RE-DESIGNING THE EAST Political Design in Asia and Europe by the 
Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart shown from September 25, 2010 to 
January 2, 2011. This section The Art of Not Being Governed Like That, 
refering in its title to Michel Foucault, will be introduced and 
discussed in this presentation.

The presentations are followed by a public discussion, which can be 
continued in the frame of our workshop organized between 27th-29th 
February, 2012.
The presentations will be held in English.
