Almost two hundred people turned out on Thursday evening to witness a
cultural event to surpass all others. An exhibition of photographs by
American artist Stephen Spinder - Ten Years In Transylvania - the focus =
of
the evening- was transformed and =B1 brought to life=B1 by some very =
colorful
authentic dance and music from Transylvania.. The entire performance and
event was filmed by Budapest TV and Duna TV.

Friends of the artist showed up -M=E9ta Music Group, a special =
appearance by
Sebesty=E1n Marta (she kept a low profile, turning up in a business =
suit),
B=E9la Halmos, a very respected musicologist and one of the first =
=A6wave=B1 to
travel to Transylvania in the 70=B1s to record and learn the music, and =
L=E1szl=F3
Felf=F6ldi, noted ethno-choreologist in European Folklor. Both M=E1rta =
and
L=E1szl=F3 were each pleased to accept one of their favorite photographs =
from
the artist.

There are over 50 of Spinder=B1s photographs on exhibit. Each one shows =
us a
very unique and personal approach to Transylvanian life. Yet each one =
has
the warmth and sensitivity, and a sense of preservation - many of the =
images
focus on the music and dance culture, and the people in Transylvania =
that
helped preserve it. It makes a successful attempt to preserve a bit of =
these
traditions and to bring it back for others to see.
