La fondation Daniel Langlois pour l=92art, la science et la technologie lan=
ce un programme de bourses pour chercheur r=E9sident. Par le biais de ce no=
uveau programme, elle souhaite favoriser l=92=E9panouissement d=92une consc=
ience critique =E0 l=92=E9gard des r=E9percussions des technologies sur les=
 humains et leur environnement naturel et culturel. =C0 la suite d=92un con=
cours international ouvert aux historiens, aux conservateurs, aux critiques=
, aux chercheurs ind=E9pendants, aux artistes et aux scientifiques incluant=
 les sciences informatiques et les disciplines connexes des sciences humain=
es et sociales, la fondation Daniel Langlois offrira la possibilit=E9 =E0 d=
eux chercheurs de travailler au Centre de recherche et de documentation (CR=
+D) =E0 m=EAme ses fonds documentaires et ses fonds d=92archives.  Chaque a=
nn=E9e la fondation annoncera les th=E9matiques de recherche dans lesquelle=
s devront s=92inscrire les propositions des chercheurs.  Pour l=92ann=E9e 2=
001-2002, les th=E8mes sont : =AB Histoire technologique, artistique et est=
h=E9tique de l=92animation par ordinateur =BB et =AB Les enjeux conceptuels=
, scientifiques et artistiques de la pr=E9servation des oeuvres d=92art num=
=E9riques ou =E0 composantes num=E9riques. =BB Le Centre de recherche et de=
 documentation accueillera, deux fois par ann=E9e, un chercheur pour une du=

THE DANIEL LANGLOIS FOUNDATION LAUNCHES A PROGRAM OF GRANTS FOR RESEARCHERS=
 IN RESIDENCE


Montreal, April 23, 2001 =97

The Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science and Technology is launching=
 a program of grants for researchers in residence. With this new program, t=
he Foundation hopes to foster critical thinking about how technologies affe=
ct people and their natural and cultural environments. Following an interna=
tional competition open to historians, curators, critics, independent resea=
rchers, artists and scientists in various fields including computer science=
 and related areas of social science, the Foundation will enable two resear=
chers to work in the collections and archives of the Centre for Research an=
d Documentation (CR+D). Each year, the Foundation will announce the researc=
h topics that researchers=92 proposals must address. For 2001-2002, the top=
ics are: Technological, artistic and aesthetic history of computer animatio=
n, and Conceptual, scientific and artistic issues involved in preserving di=
gital artworks or works with digital components. Twice a year, the CR+D wil=
l welcome a researcher for three to six months. The researchers will be giv=
en access to computer and audiovisual equipment, the Foundation=92s databas=
e, and its entire collection of documentation. The researchers in residence=
 will be required to publish their research findings on the Foundation=92s =
