Marcus Goldson a kenyai Mombasában született és a hampshire-i Winchester
School of Art-on szerzett képzőművészeti diplomát. 1993 óta él Budapesten.

Marcus képeiben az a fantasztikus, hogy egyszerre mélyek és humorosak.
Pontos megfigyelő, odafigyel a részletekre, és az utcán, kávézóban,
kocsmában látott történéseket sűríti össze képeiben. Az elmélyült
megfigyelés képei technikai kivitelezésében is visszaköszön, mert annak
ellenére, hogy akvarellel dolgozik, a legapróbb részleteket is megjeleníti.
Marcus elgondolkodik, megfigyeli a furcsa, érthetetlen, megmagyarázhatatlan
kis világunkat (miért utaznak gepárdok a budapesti metrón?). És hogy miért
pont Budapest? Talán mert Marcus valahol szíve melyen szeret minket, szereti
Budapestet és az itteni embereket; az abszurditást mindenesetre biztosan.

Az elmúlt tíz évben olyan folyóiratoknak készített illusztrációkat, mint a
Cosmopolitan, az FHM és a Playboy. Rajzai a The Budapest Week és a The Cairo
Times hasábjain is megjelennek, de számos könyvet is illusztrált.

Marcus Goldson was born in Mombasa, Kenya and has a degree in Fine Art from
Winchester School of Art in Hampshire, England. Since 1993 he has lived in
Budapest, Hungary.

Using the city and people as inspiration Marcus likes to build real or
imaginary narratives into his images, whether they be in a café, bar or
railway station but usually with an emphasis on the humorous. Nevertheless,
his paintings show a great deal of deep thinking and precision. The
minuscule details on his aquarels make the spectator cogitate with him on
our strange and incomprehensible little world: why do leopards travel on the
Budapest underground? Why Budapest at all? Perhaps deep in his heart Marcus
loves us; he definitely loves the absurd.

Over the past ten years he has produced illustrations for magazines such as
Cosmopolitan, FHM and Playboy. He has also done many illustrations for
newspapers like The Budapest Week and The Cairo Times and for a number of
books.
