*Raphaël Grisey* képzőművész prezentációjára

A Budapest Galéria csereprogramja révén jelenleg Budapesten tartózkodó
művész két munkával szerepelt a Műcsarnok !REVOLUTION? kiállításán.

A 18 részes fotósorozatból Wo versteckt sich Rosa L. (Hol rejtőzik Rosa L.,
2003–2006) és egy videóból sandquarry  (Homokgödör, 2005) álló alkotás az
emlékezés nyilvánosan megjelenő formáit kutatja: a baloldali ellenállás
történelmi eseményeinek, a forradalomnak/forradalmi kísérleteknek, illetve
ezek főszereplőinek nyomait keresi városi környezetben. A fotósorozat
elsősorban Rosa Luxemburg és harcostársai berlini tevékenységének
helyszíneire reflektál, a videó pedig egy, a német fordulat után helyéről
eltávolított Lenin-szobor hollétét kutatja.

A Berlinben készült munkák és az azokat dokumentáló könyvprojekt mellett
Grisey bemutatja az elmúlt 5 évben készült műveit.

Trappes, ville nouvelle (Trappes, új város, 2002) című videója a 60-as évek
utópikus várostervezési lázára reflektál, az Etre chez soi avant d'être chez
soi (Otthon lenni, mielőtt hazaérkeznénk, 2002–2004) projektje mellett, amit
Párizs egyik külvárosában készített, beszél a Florence Lazarral közösen,
2005-2006-ban Vukovárban és Belgrádban forgatott két munkáról (Red Star és a
Prvi deo).

Láthatunk részleteket a még nem befejezett, Cooperative (Szövetkezet, 2007)
című videómunkájából is, amely egy 1976-ban Franciaországból Maliba
visszatelepült afrikai munkások alapította mezőgazdasági szövetkezet sorsát
követi. A posztkolonialista időknek az utópiák örökségével kapcsolatos
viszonyát vizsgáló munka reflektál az afrikai emigránsok aktuális helyzetére
is.

Raphaël Grisey 1978-ban született Párizsban.
Párizsban és Berlinben él / dolgozik.

presentation of *Raphaël Grisey*

Raphaël Grisey has been a visiting artist supported by the Budapest Gallery
exchange program and participated in the show !REVOLUTION? in the
Kunsthalle, Budapest.

The exhibited work consists of an 18-part photo series and a video that
explores the publicly manifesting forms of remembering: it looks in an urban
environment for traces of the historical events of politically leftwing
resistance, of revolutions and revolutionary attempts and their main
participants. The photo series reflects primarily on the sites of the
activities of Rosa Luxembourg and her fellow fighters in Berlin, while the
video investigates the whereabouts of a Lenin statue that was moved from its
location in the wake of the German change.

Beside his Berlin projects and the book documenting them, Raphaël Grisey
will discuss more of his works, including the video Trappes, ville nouvelle
(Trappes , new city, 2002) that reflects on the utopian urban developments
of the 60s in France.

He will introduce Etre chez soi avant d'être chez soi (to be at home before
being at home) realised in a suburb of Paris between 2002 and 2004, as well
as two projects made together with Florence Lazar – Red Star and Prvi deo
were both shot in Belgrade and Vukovar in 2005 and 2006 – about the post-war
situation.

Finally, he will touch upon the ongoing project Cooperative (2007) being
realised in Mali and France. The film deals with the current situation of an
agricultural cooperative founded in 1976 in Mali by a group of African
workers from France who decided to return to their native land. It raises
the question of the heritage of a utopia operating in post-colonialist times
as well as of the issues of more recent economic migration.

Raphaël Grisey was born in Paris in 1978.
He lives and works in Paris and Berlin.
