The 'Rencontres Internationales' will take place in Paris in November 2007, at
the Centre Pompidou, at the Jeu de Paume national museum and in other key
locations. The same program will be presented in Madrid in April 2008 and in
Berlin in June 2008.
Those three events will propose an international programming focusing on film,
video and multimedia, gathering works of artists and filmmakers acknowledged
on the international scene along with young artists and not much distributed
filmmakers.

ANY INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANISATION CAN SUBMIT ONE OR SEVERAL PROPOSALS. THE CALL
FOR ENTRIES IS OPEN TO FILM, VIDEO AND MULTIMEDIA CYCLES, without any
restriction of length or genre. All submissions are free, without any
limitation of geographic origin.

Video and film submissions are received on DVD. ALL submissions are sent by
postal mail, enclosed with a filled-in ONLINE ENTRY FORM, UNTIL THE 15th of

The 'Rencontres Internationales' offer more than a simple presentation of the
works. They introduce an intercultural forum gathering various guests from all
over the world - artists and filmmakers, institutions and emerging
organisations - to testify of the vivacity of creation and its distribution,
but also of the artistic and cultural contexts that often are experiencing
deep changes. The festival reflects specificities and crossings of art
practices between new cinema and contemporary art, explores media art
practices and their critical purposes, and work out this necessary time when
points of view meet and are exchanged.
The festival aims at presenting those works to a broad audience, at creating
circulations between different art practices and between different audiences,
as well as creating new exchanges between artists, filmmakers and
professionals. The 'Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid', an event
without competition, are supported by French, German, Spanish and

Les Rencontres Internationales se dérouleront à Paris en novembre 2007 au
Centre Pompidou, au Jeu de Paume et sur d'autres lieux. La même programmation
sera présentée à Madrid en avril 2008 et à Berlin en juin 2008.
Ces trois événements proposeront une programmation internationale inédite
consacrée aux nouveaux cinémas, à la création vidéo contemporaine et au
multimédia, réunissant des œuvres d'artistes et de réalisateurs reconnus sur
la scène internationale aux côtés de jeunes artistes et de réalisateurs peu
diffusés.

Plus qu'une simple présentation d'œuvres, les Rencontres Internationales
proposent un véritable forum interculturel, en présence de nombreux invités
venus du monde entier, artistes et réalisateurs, responsables d'institutions
et de structures émergentes, pour témoigner d'une vivacité de la création, de
sa diffusion et de contextes artistiques et culturels connaissant souvent de
profondes mutations. Les Rencontres Internationales rendent compte des
spécificités et des convergences des pratiques artistiques entre nouveau
cinéma et art contemporain, explorent les formes artistiques émergentes et
leurs propos critiques, et permettent ce temps nécessaire où les points de vue
se croisent et s'échangent. 
Les Rencontres Internationales ont pour vocation de faire découvrir ces œuvres
à un large public, de créer des circulations entre différentes pratiques
artistiques et entre différents publics, de susciter des échanges entre
artistes, réalisateurs et acteurs de la vie artistique et culturelle. Cet
événement sans compétition est soutenu par des institutions culturelles
françaises, allemandes, espagnoles et internationales.

Die Rencontres Internationales in Paris werden sich im November 2007 im Centre
Pompidou, im Nationalmuseum Jeu de Paume sowie in anderen Orten ereignen.
Dasselbe Programm wird im April 2008 in Madrid und im Juni 2008 in Berlin gezeigt.
Diese drei Veranstaltungen werden ein internationales und zum ersten Mal
präsentiertes Programm zeigen, das sich dem Jungen Film, Video und Multimedia
widmet und das Werke international anerkannter Künstler und Filmemacher mit
den Arbeiten junger und weniger bekannter Künstler und Filmemacher zusammenbringt.

Das Festival versteht sich nicht als eine einfache Präsentationsplattform. Das
interkulturelle Forum, das im Rahmen des Festivals entsteht, bietet den
zahlreichen Gästen aus der ganzen Welt, Künstlern, Filmemachern, Leitern von
Institutionen, die Gelegenheit, über die Lebendigkeit des kreativen Schaffens
und seiner Verbreitungsmöglichkeiten zu berichten sowie über die verschiedenen
künstlerischen und kulturellen Kontexte, die oft tiefgründige Umbrüche
erfahren, auszusagen. Das Festival bietet Reflexionen über die Spezifitäten
und Übergänge der künstlerischen Darstellungsweisen zwischen Jungem Film und
zeitgenössischer Kunst, erforscht multimediale Kunstformen und ihre kritischen
Absichten und wird zum Ort, wo sich die verschiedenen Standpunkte kreuzen und
austauschen. 
Hauptanliegen der Rencontres Internationales ist es, diese Werke einem breiten
Publikum zugänglich zu machen, die verschiedenen Schaffensbereiche einander
näherzubringen und den Austausch zwischen Künstlern, Filmemachern und
Persönlichkeiten aus der Kultur- und Kunstszene zu fördern. Als Veranstaltung
ohne Wettbewerb werden die Rencontres Internationales von deutschen,
französischen, spanischen und internationalen Institutionen unterstützt.
