We kindly would like to bring to your notice the 
upcoming selection procedure of new residents for 
the Rijksakademie research residency 2009. The 
Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam 
is an international research and production place 
for talented professional artists from all 
continents. Fifty resident artists can work for 
one or two years on research, experiments, 
projects and production. In addition to extensive 
technical workshops and advice by 
internationally-renowned artists, exhibition 
organizers and theoreticians that promote the 
deepening, expansion and acceleration of artistic 
practice, the facilities include a library, 
artists' documentation and art collections. The 
Rijksakademie is a unique blend of the features 
of artists' residencies and research centres at the highest level.

I would very much appreciate it if you can bring 
the 'call for entries' to the attention of 
important professional contacts and of talented 
artists, in an early stage of their career, who 
in your view may benefit from the possibilities 
the Rijksakademie residency offers. A period at 
the Rijksakademie proves to have the most effect 
on an artists' career, when one applies after a 
few years of professional experience. The quality 
of the work is important, but also taken into 
consideration are the possibilities for 
development and a demonstration of an established direction in the work.

for the residency January – December 2009 is February 1, 2008.
