MOVING IMAGE COMMISSIONS
Hull Film is generating an exciting opportunity for film makers/video
artists to create a unique site-specific moving image work to be
projected inside a shipping container located in the City of Hull.
TRAILERS is part of Illuminate the region\'s most ambitious cultural
festival to date, hosted by Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York.
PROJECT
TRAILERS will consist of shipping containers placed around the City of
Hull; all containing projected moving image works. The containers will
be open to the public for the duration of the 5th Hull International
Short Film Festival, which will take place from 27 September-01 October
2006.
We are looking to commission 2 new pieces of video work for TRAILERS
that are either 30 minutes or under in length, or looped. The works are
to be inspired by Hull and the surrounding area, as well as being a
response to the unique space in which the work will be projected. The
pieces could also contain an element of surprise and magic, by
transporting the audience to a different setting.
The commissioned works will be exhibited inside the containers in
public outdoor spaces and should be suitable for an audience of all
ages. Rough measurements for the interior of the containers are, Length
5.90m x Height 2.29m x Width 2.35m.
One of the commissioned filmmakers/artists should be from the City of
Hull, whilst the other filmmaker/artist will be based in another UK
city or town.
Selected filmmakers/artists will receive £2900 each for the
commissions. This fee is inclusive of costs for materials to produce
the works.
