Dear Colleague,

'No one opens attachments anymore'
November 4th and 5th 2004, Infolab21, Lancaster, UK

Folly are pleased to invite you to an engaging conference and workshop
bringing together creative thinkers from the fields of media arts,
computing, engineering and design for two days of explorative activity and
scientific inquiry.

The event is a collaboration between Folly and .:thePooch:. a collective of
computer scientists based within the Computing Department of Lancaster
University and will be hosted at InfoLab21; the brand new North West Centre
of Excellence for ICT. The event will coincide with the launch of the
forthcoming exhibition 'Infrasense' by Robert Saucier and KIT, a robotic
sound installation that deals with viral communities and virtual worlds.

The conference will feature presentations by keynote speakers, individual
artists and will include interdisciplinary breakout sessions. Participants
will have the opportunity to prototype ideas and innovations for future arts
and technology collaborations responding to notions of robotics and
viral activities.

Keynote speakers wil be Toby Heys (KIT), Steve Benford (Equator and Blast
Theory), David Bruemmer (INEL, Humanoid/Adaptive Robotics lab) and Roberta
Buiani (York University, Ontario). An opening event will also feature a live
performance piece by Manchester artists Owl project.

'No one opens attachments anymore' will create a rare and inspiring
environment bringing together artists and scientists to create new and
exiting possibilities for both disciplines.
