KUNSTHOGSKOLEN I BERGEN (KHIB)
BERGEN COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN
NEW MA PROGRAM IN FINE ARTS FROM AUGUST 2004
Bergen College of Art and Design, Bergen, Norway, is now inviting
applications for a two-year masters programme in Fine Arts, starting in
August 2004. KHIB is one of two national colleges of Art and Design in
Norway, and currently has around 300 students in the fields of Fine Arts,
Furniture Design & Interior Architecture and Visual Communication/Graphic
Design.
State-financed higher education in Norway is provided free: international
students pay no tuition fees, but must be self-financed in relation to
subsistence in Norway.
Studies in Fine Arts at MA level are project-based and practice-oriented.
It is possible to work within a range of media, materials and practices
including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, video & electronic
media, installation, performance, photography, textiles and ceramics.
Studies are co-ordinated by course leader Professor Jeremy Welsh and each
MA student will be allocated a personal supervisor from the College's
academic staff according to the nature of the individual's MA project.
Studio-based practice will be supplemented by intensive theory
seminars/lecture series, and a weekly student-led seminar involving all MA
candidates. Examination will be based upon the completed MA project and an
accompanying written text that is intended to contextualize the project
within a broader cultural discourse.
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 1st. JUNE 2004
Applications must include:
completed application form
a written project description/proposal for a two year project
