Applicants from outside Britain and Ireland are welcome and the
appointment will be made on merit.

Senior Lecturer in Media Studies/Digital Media, University of Ulster,
Northern Ireland, UK. Having won substantial funding (in excess of 3
million UK pounds) under the Support Programme for University Research,
the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland is establishing a major new
research centre within the Faculty of Arts at its Coleraine campus on the
north coast of Ireland. The new Centre will have a significant research
strand in digital media and digital cultures.

The Senior Lectureship in Media Studies/Digital Media is likely to be
filled by someone with an interest in innovative interdisciplinary
research in 'new media', with an emphasis on creative and
theoretically-informed explorations rather than technology per se (e.g.
the fibreculture 'themes' of internet theory, aesthetics, media
research,
public policy, popular culture, new media education, net activism, etc).
The appointee will be expected to provide leadership and a sense of
direction for his/her area within the new Centre for Media Research,
especially in the area of international collaborations for which funding
is available.

The Coleraine area in the north of Ireland offers considerable
attractions in terms of location, quality of life, etc.
