VAIN live art is an annual artist led platform, established in 2001, in
Oxford.
VAIN 2002, is an opportunity for artists working in live art, to present
work including, performance, interventions, dance, sound and time-based
work. We see live art as being part of every day spaces, our aim is to make
VAIN a journey for the audience which impacts on an emotional, sensory and
thought provoking level.
If you would like to submit a proposal, please include a presentation of
the piece, a statement about your work, a short CV, supporting
documentation, technical specifications, (we cannot guarantee a high level
of technical support or equipment as we are unsure of funding at this
point). Closing date for proposals 8th April 2002. Please send information

Call for proposals - Movement to Performance Festival (Finland) (source:

MOVEMENT TO PERFORMANCE mope / / 02 Vasa Arthall, Finland 17-19.5.2002
The Festival is going to be held in Vasa Arthall from Friday evening until
Sunday afternoon with non-stop performances of different kind. During this
time there is going to be a 48 hours live radiobroadcast from Gallery
Platform by two editors (Radio X3M). Platform is situated about 200 meters
from Vasa Arthall, so the gallery will be a meeting point during the
festival. By having two radio radio editors Peter Lüttge and Stan Saanila,
who also will be making reports from the festival they hope for people to
participate in the broadcast (everyone has a chance to speak their mind! or
maybe use the radio as a performance tool?)
You can apply for participation to the festival before 30.4.2002. In your
application we need to have your name, telephone number, name of the work,
duration (roughly) and request of equipment. We plan to have as many
participants as possible to get a packed program for the weekend.
Food and accommodation Platform will provide for and we will try to get the
travel expenses covered (depending on the amount of participates) please
contact us as soon as possible regarding these questions.

ANTI Contemporary Art Festival in Kuopio, Finland 24 ? 27.10.2002
ANTI festival is a new international contemporary art festival offering
experimental views of creating contemporary art on various landscapes;
namely on the landscape of the city of Kuopio as well as on the landscape
of human body.
ANTI festival focuses on site specific art, performance art and live art.
Site specific works take over the city and artists are invited to create
new works to the parks, streets and the market square. Performances,
installations or videos by performance and live artists will be seen in
Sitruuna Gallery, in the Kuopio Art Museum, in the cinema Kuvakukko as well
as outdoors on specific locations.
The programme will consist of works by invited artists and platform artists.
The artistic directors of the festival are Jere Ruotsalainen and Johanna
Tuukkanen.
ANTI festival is funded by the reagional arts council of North Savo and
the City of Kuopio.

10. Call for applicants - Raumers Artist -in-Residence Programme (Finalnd)

Raumars welcomes applications from artists who wish to take up residency at
Rauma in year 2003. The artists may work on any field of art including
visual arts, design, architecture, music, literature and dance. Duration of
the residence period is 2-6 months.
Applications due end of April 2002.
The artists have to produce at least one co-operative/ community project
together with local people or institutions during his/her visit. It can be
workshop, lecture or public/ environmental art piece. The project will be
produced according the artist’s (accepted) proposal. Raumars will provide
with an apartment in Old Rauma free of charge and administrative help in
producing the accepted project and guarantees also some support for the
material expenses (252 EUR/monthly). Applications have to include a short
documentation of the artist’s work. Main selection criterion will be the
quality of previous art and the proposal.
