Museum in Progress - Wien

"... the museum only makes sense as a pioneer" Alexander Dorner

museum in progress is concerned with the changing ways in which art is=20
brought before the public and has developed innovative models for=20
co-operation between business, art and media. The art association, founded=
=20
in 1990, organises exhibitions in media such as newspapers, magazines,=20
billboards, the the facades of buildings, TV andthe internet and thereby=20
integrates art into everyday life. The museum of the 21st century exists as=
=20
a flexible structure and establishes the form in which it appears directly=
=20
in media space. Through co-operation with media organisations such as DER=20
STANDARD (Austrian newspaper), gewista (a billboard advertising company)=20
and ORF Kultur (cultural department of Austrian national TV and radio)=20
museum in progress presents art projects in print media, on billboards and=
=20
the facades of buildings and appears extremely frequently in public space.

"The new type of art institute cannot merely be an art museum as it has=20
been until now, but no museum at all. The new type will be more like a=20
power station, a producer of new energy."
Alexander Dorner (1893 - 1957)
