CALL FOR WORK

www.gallerythe.org is pleased to sponsor a series of exhibitions curated by=
=20
Koan-Jeff Baysa of ASCI.org.

The purpose of Art & Science Collaborations,Inc. (ASCI) is to raise public=
=20
awareness about artists and scientists using science and technology to=20
explore new forms of creative expression, and to increase communication and=
=20
collaborations between these fields.

'Completed by Nature' is an exhibition that looks at the active and passive=
=20
interactions of the artist and his/her natural surroundings, the end result=
=20
of which is translocatable to fit within the context of contemporary visual=
=20
art. One renown example is Walter De Maria=B9s 'Lightning Fields' in which=
=20
the artist has removed himself and the installation is completed by Nature.=
=20
At the other end of the concept spectrum is an artist who considers herself=
=20
to be a work in progress, waiting to be inspired and 'completed by nature=20
itself.' Between those poles are artists who 'collaborate' with=20
insects/animals and plants; artists who work with natural forces (a river=20
will 'paint' a canvas for an artist; an artist=B9s painting is left outdoors=
=20
to be altered and "completed" by the freezing temperatures).

www.gallerythe.org consists of three large box windows with high visibility=
=20
from a well-trafficked street in Brooklyn. These windows are essentially=20
vertical vitrines, perfect for installation work. Works consistently stop=20
and draw passers-by in for a closer look. Interactive, kinetic, and moving=
=20
image works are encouraged.

Please view images of the current and prior shows as well as the exhibition=
=20
spaces at www.gallerythe.org

Accepted Artists requirements deadline January 1, 2003
If you are accepted you will need to comply with www.gallerythe.org's=20

www.gallerythe.org/html/ar.html

Works will be reviewed as color slides, on 100 MB Zip disks, and Mac=20
