PRESS RELEASE

WOOF WOOF FILM PROGRAMME

4pm November 11th at the Austrian Cultural Forum. Admission free.

As part of the current exhibition WoofWoof at the Austrian Cultural =
Forum,=20
an afternoon of short films and animations exploring the exhibition's =
theme=20
of becoming animal. The film programme has a central and Eastern =
European=20
flavour, showing animations which explore some of the darker forms of=20
transformation, from the animated insects in the films which Ladislas=20
Starewitch made in the early days of cinema, to the violent and curious=20
worlds created in the animation of the Czechslovakians Jan Svankmajer =
and=20
Walerian Borowczyk. Animation is an ultimate form of metamorphosis, as =
the=20
drawn line transforms itself from inanimate to animate and back. The =
Woof=20
Woof film programme presents some of the diverse examples of animated=20
transformations, from Felix the Cat and early Disney cartoons to the=20
delicate sand animations of Caroline Leaf and the psychedelic adventures =
of=20
Quasi, half duck half boy.

The Woof Woof film programme was curated by Lucy Reynolds.
