The start of this semester was a bit rocky and I would like to provide
further information on my course "Art, Artificial Intelligence and
Data".<br>

<div><u>Tomorrow, Tuesday Oct 4th at 14.15 the introductory
meeting</u> is at the Intermedia building (Kmety György street, 27).
I'll introduce the course and answer your questions. The course will
start seriously on Wednesday.<br>

Is this course for me?<br>
I suggest the course for students from the 3rd year on and for Erasmus
students, Ph.D. are elegible for consultations without following the
course.<br>

Are there limitations regarding attendence?<br>
I can work with a maximum of 20 students. Please have a look at the
course schedule below: If you can attend these dates, the course might
be for you, otherwise I suggest not. In case more than 20 students
want to participate in the course, the seminar and consultations will
be limited and my lectures and the artist talks will be public to
everybody.<br>

What is the schedule?<br>
I'll be in Budapest for 3 teaching weeks (this week, October
17-23, Nov 28-Dec 4). Inbeetween these weeks teaching is online via
Zoom on Mondays and Fridays between 10 and approximately 14. Personal
consultations via Zoom also on Mondays and Fridays, after the
lectures. My course wraps up in early December.<br>

Art, Artificial Intelligence and Data<br>
<br>
This semester project will look into how artificial 'intelligence'
and data can be used as artistic tools and as subject of artistic
interventions. Students are invited to develop their own projects in
any media, while discussing the progress in group and single
consultations. The course is an exploratory endeavour: students
explore machine learning/AI tools for artists and discuss the results.
Programming knowledge is not assumed, but you need to be open to learn
a few programming basics. Students will also read theoretical texts
(in English) and discuss them. The course includes lectures, seminar
and group discussions, exhibition visits and personal consultations.
Course language is English and sessions will be held online and on
site in October, November and December.<br>

Francis Hunger's practice combines artistic research and media
theory with the capabilities of narration through installations, radio
plays and performances and internet-based art. Currently he is a
researcher for the project Training The Archive at Hartware
MedienKunstVerein, Dortmund, critically examining the use of AI,
statistics and pattern recognition for art and curating. In 2022 he
co-curated with Inke Arns and Marie Lechner the exhibition House of
Mirrors - Artificial Intelligence as Phantasm at HMKV, Dortmund. His
Ph.D. at Bauhaus University Weimar develops a media archeological
genealogy of database technology and practices.
