Dear Colleagues,

A lecture by
EDWIN DERTIEN
The Robot Theatre Lab
24th September 2024, 5:00 PM
MOME AUDITORIUM
Robots (at least the term Robot) originate from the theatre. What has theatre (anno 2024) to offer for the field of Human-Robot Interaction? What roles can robots take on the stage? Assistant professor and creative roboticist Edwin Dertien took a sabbatical last year to design, build and operate a robot actor for a professional theatre production. Since that worked out very well he is currently developing a theatre production starring a living tiny 'baba yaga' house, involving the topics of AI and climate change. In his talk, illustrated by video experts, he will share his experiences and insights for social robot design, bridging technology research and performative arts, sketching outlines for further/future research.
