Jelen kiállítás egyszerre kívánja a nézőt megfigyelővé és megfigyeltté
tenni. Az egymás megfigyelése utáni vágy, a mások életébe való betekintés
azt a normarendszert feltételezi, amik alapján meghatározzuk magunkat
másokhoz képest. Meg akarunk győződni róla, hogy hasonló problémákkal
küzdünk, különbek vagyunk másoknál vagy éppen érünk annyit mint ők. Tehát
az átlagtól csak átlagosan térünk el.

A kiállítás kisebb egységekre bontható, ahol az egyes terekben elhelyezett
munkák más-más aspektusból vizsgálják, hogyan tudjuk testünket a lehető
legtárgyilagosabban leírni, az intimitás teljes hiányában reprezentálni.
Azt vizsgálja ezekben az anti-intimnek nevezhető állapotokban, hogy a
tényleges fizikális kiterjedésünk mennyi finom és bonyolult kapcsolatot
alakít ki környezetünkkel, illetve a társadalmi elvárások hogyan alakítják
külsőnket.
A testtel kapcsolatos személyes történetek, kritikai megfigyelések ugyanúgy
helyet kapnak a kiállításon, mint az egészen absztrakt tárgyak,
egybefonódott szoborszerű testek.

Vékony Dorottya (1985) visszatérően foglalkozik a test tematikájával.
Legyen szó a sajátunkról, mások testéről vagy a kollektív testtudatról.
Munkáiban megjelenő testképek a világgal, a környezettel és az önmagunkkal
való viszony primer tükrei, egy olyan térkép, amely magán hordozza
történelmünket, korunk lenyomatait, személyes történeteinket.

The current exhibition aims to make the spectator observe and be observed
at the same time. While we watch others, we are being watched, too. The
desire of observing one another, of having insight into the lives of others
posits a system of norms based on which we define ourselves compared to
others. We want to confirm that we have similar problems as others, that we
are better than or just as good as they are. In other words, that we only
differ from the average on an average scale.

The exhibition can be divided into smaller units: from a different aspect
in each space, works explore how we can describe our body in the most
objective manner possible, to represent it without any intimacy whatsoever.
Looking at these so-called anti-intimate states, the exhibition examines
all the subtle and complex relationships
our physical extension forms with our environment, and how social
expectations shape our appearance. Personal stories and critical
observations regarding the body are represented at the exhibition along
with abstract objects and intertwined sculptural bodies.

Dorottya Vékony (1985) keeps revisiting the theme of the body, whether it
is our own or others’, or a collective body consciousness. The body images
appearing in her works are primary reflections of our relation to the
world, the environment and ourselves, forming a map that carries our
history, the traces of our age and our personal stories.
