The European Investment Bank (EIB) Institute is pleased to announce the
2015 edition of its *Artists' Development Programme (ADP), targeting
visual artists (aged less than 35) from EU Member States focusing on
"The Imprint of Man — Representing the Anthropocene."*
The ADP provides an opportunity for the emerging visual artist to
develop her/his practice at the highest level during a four–six week
residency. During this time, she/he will be mentored by a leading peer,
internationally acclaimed British artist Darren Almond. The main
practical objective of the programme is to help bring about the
production of an independent innovative artistic project.
*Thematic focus
*The residency is open to all individuals wishing to develop their
practice in a professional context by creating a new (body of) work(s)
on the theme "The Imprint of Man — Representing the Anthropocene," using
photography, video, installations and/or new media.
*Eligibility
*Applicants should be under 35 years of age at the time of application.
Applicants must have an EU nationality or reside in an EU country. In
order to facilitate communications with the mentor and local artistic
environment in Luxembourg, participants should be fluent in English.
*Jury
*Applications are evaluated by a selection jury consisting of members of
the EIB Institute Arts Committee and staff, external arts professionals
and the mentor. The jury bases its selection on the proposal submitted
answering the creative brief, the potential impact of the residency on
the applicant's career, and the relevance of the applicant's practice to
the cultural context of the EIB Institute.
*Budget and duration
*The EIB Institute will take over the artist's travel costs to and from
Luxembourg. The artist-in-residence will also receive a stipend (EUR 100
per day). At the end of the residency, the participant will receive a
success fee of EUR 1,500, provided she/he has produced an artwork.
Before or during the residency in Luxembourg, the beneficiary will spend
a few days visiting the mentor and experiencing the latter's creative
studio(s) in London. The duration of the residency in Luxembourg will be
four–six weeks, in June/July 2015. The artist participating in the ADP
will be provided a living/working space located in Centre Culturel de
Rencontre Abbaye de Neumünster, situated in the culturally rich Grund
district of Luxembourg City.
Upon completion of the residency, the EIB might consider acquiring the
artwork(s), which was/were produced on site, from the artist.
*Application procedure
Requirements
*– CV (in English)
– Scanned copy of the passport, identity card of the applicant or other
document evidencing legitimate residence in one of the eligible
countries (in English)
– A letter of motivation/intent specifying personal drive and
expectations for the programme together with a concept for the theme
proposed for the residency (maximum 500 words, in English)
– Portfolio of visual documentation of several works best characterising
the art of the applicant (in PDF, four A4 pages maximum)
– Names and contacts of two professional referees, familiar with the art
of the applicant
– A brief reference in the body of the email to how the applicant found
out about the programme
Any application which does not comply with the set requirements will be
automatically eliminated.
*Selection procedure
*A jury will select the candidate for the residency to be held in
June/July 2015 based on the proposed project, the quality of his/her
work, and the applicant's potential to use the residency to maximum benefit.
The selected candidate will be informed of the jury's result via email
by the end of March/beginning of April 2015.
Deadline for application is *20 February at midnight (GMT+1).
*Applications must be fully completed and submitted in due time in order
to be considered.
