A Művészet veszélyes csillagzat alatt – A művészet felelőssége című
kiállítás keretében

Mindkét előadó művészeti gyakorlata előzetes kutatáson alapul. Jonas Staal
összetett és nagyszabású projektjeiben a művészet, a demokrácia, a
politika, az ideológia és a propaganda kapcsolatával foglalkozik. A
kiállításon a holland szélsőjobboldali politika művészetet kisajátító
stratégiáját sorozatából látható két mű, amelyek szerint a legfőbb veszély
abban rejlik, amikor a politika valamilyen progresszív művészeti
formanyelvet állít a kirekesztő és elnyomó ideológia szolgálatába.
Wendelien van Oldenborgh filmeket és filminstallációkat készít, amelyekben
több narratíva és jelentéssík találkozik. A gyakran forgatókönyvet
nélkülöző, különböző társadalmi csoportok találkozását létrehozó dialógusok
a nyugati demokráciában működő nyilvánosság ellentmondásaira és a
modernizmus eszméinek kiüresedésére világítanak rá.

A művészek bemutatkozása után tervezett beszélgetés témája, hogy miként
érhetőek tetten a szélsőjobboldali nézetek és a fasizmus a kultúrában és a
közéletben.

Az előadás és a beszélgetés nyelve angol.

How much fascism? – The Netherlands Part I and II: Lecture by Wendelien van
Oldenborgh and Jonas Staal Rotterdam-based artists followed by discussion

In the framework of the exhibition Art Under a Dangerous Star –The
Responsibility of Art

The practice of both artists, whose works are part of the exhibition Art
Under a Dangerous Star – The Responsibility of Art, is based on research.
Jonas Staal’s complex and large-scale projects deal with the relationship
between art, democracy, politics, ideology, and propaganda. In the
exhibition two of the three-part series exposing the strategy of the Dutch
far-right politics for the appropriation of art are presented. According to
these, the greatest danger lies in how politics places a progressive visual
language of art in the service of discriminating and oppressive ideology.
Wendelien van Oldenborgh produces films and film installations that
construct several narratives and layers of meaning. The dialogues – which
are often unscripted and often bring together various social groups – shed
light on the contradictions of the public sphere in Western democracies and
the emptying out of the ideas of modernism.

After the presentation of the artists, the topic of discussion is how
far-right views and fascism apperar in the public sphere and in the field
of culture.

The lecture and the discussion will be in English.
