NERO is pleased to announce the live streaming of 
the new cycle of three conferences and screenings 
curated by Philippe-Alain Michaud for 
the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi, in collaboration 
with the Iuav University in Venice, Dipartimento 
di Culture del Progetto - Laboratorio di teoria 
delle immagini.

The first conference will be held today, Thursday, March 13, at 6pm:

"The origins of film" is a cycle of three 
conferences and screenings curated by 
Philippe-Alain Michaud, curator at the Centre 
Pompidou, and organized in collaboration with the 
Iuav University in Venice, Dipartimento di 
Culture del Progetto - Laboratorio di teoria 
delle immagini.  These three events represent an 
opportunity to explore the origins of cinematic 
production through the works of three 
contemporary artists-filmmakers, who often get 
around the history of cinema and find inspiration 
in the history of painting, in anthropology and 
in exact sciences.

Ben Russell was born in 1976 in Chicago, United 
States, where he lives and works. His films, 
installations and performances foster a deep 
engagement with the history and semiotics of the 
moving image. Between art and cinema, his work 
investigates the historical and conceptual 
relationships between early cinema, documentaries 
and structuralist filmmaking. His works 
are concerned with ritual, communal spectatorship 
and the pursuit of a "psychedelic ethnography".
