Museene i Sør-Trøndelag, MiST, requires a new Director for Trondheim
Kunstmuseum. This is a six-year fixed-term vacancy, with the possibility
of extension. The Director is responsible for leading strategic and
operational duties at the museum.

Trondheim Kunstmuseum owns Norway's third largest public art collection,
divided over two venues in central Trondheim. TKM Bispegata has a main
focus on the collections and contemporary art, whereas TKM Gråmølna is
dedicated to showing contemporary art and the art works gifted by Bleken
and Sitter. Trondheim Kunstmuseum is an active museum, producing several
exhibitions every year, with accompanying events. There are currently
15.5 FTEs at the museum.

Trondheim Kunstmuseum is part of Museene i Sør-Trøndelag (MiST), a large
organisation with potential for further development. The Director at
Trondheim Kunstmuseum is a board member at MiST, along with the
Administrative Director and the Directors from the other eight MiST museums.

Essential requirements:
–Minimum MA in History of Art or Fine Arts
–Formal leadership training or relevant experience
–Good language skills
–Previous museum experience

The Director at Trondheim Kunstmuseum leads the committed and competent
staff, and reports to the Administrative Director of MiST. The Director
must display a high level of involvement and convey a clear direction
for the museum, contributing to make the museum a functional and leading
organisation in its field.

Trondheim Kunstmuseum is to be developed as an educational hub, offering
research resources and active learning programmes. The Director must
demonstrate excellent collaboration skills with staff, the MiST board,
and external collaborative partners. The Director must include, motivate
and inspire his/her employees, and must have the ability to delegate
work in order to utilise staff competency productively and ensure a
positive work environment.

The successful candidate will have a solid background in the arts, an
ability to see projects through to completion, and to make bold
decisions on behalf of Trondheim Kunstmuseum.

For further information, contact Administrative Director Suzette
Paasche, on T +47 995 86 330 or suzette.paasche at mist.museum.no.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 10 January 2014.
