Az ACAX Check-in Budapest nemzetközi kurátori vizitorprogramjának következő vendége:

KARI CONTE, a New York-i International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) kiállítási- és  programigazgatója.

A New York-i International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) az Amerikai Egyesült Államok egyik vezető, képzőművészeti és kurátori műterem-programját működtető intézménye. Kari Conte, az ISCP programigazgatója praxisáról és az intézmény programpolitikájáról tart előadást, különös tekintettel az intézmény Közép-Kelet-Európához köthető programjaira. Az előadást követően három, a korábbi években a műterem-programon részt vevő rezidens művész, Csoszó Gabriella (2011), KissPál Szabolcs (2010) és László Gergely (2010) számol be személyes tapasztalatairól és a program keretében megvalósított projektjeiről.

Kari Conte kurátor, művészeti író, a New York-i International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) kiállítási- és programigazgatója. Korábban a londoni Whitechapel Gallery munkatársaként dolgozott és a Royal College of Art-ban szerzett diplomát kortárs művészeti kurátor szakon. Több mint harminc nemzetközi kiállítás szervezője, számos helyen tartott előadásokat, többek között a Royal College of Art-on , a Bard College-ban, a Goethe Intézet-ben vagy az Independent Curators International (ICI) programjain.  2011-ben Ursula Mayer –rel dolgozott a Performa 11 (New Visual Art Performance Biennial, New York) programjának keretében. Jelenleg Mierle Laderman Ukeles képzőművész monográfiáján dolgozik, mely a Sternberg Press, Berlin és a Kunstverein, Amsterdam közös gondozásában jelenik meg 2012-ben.

KARI CONTE, Director of Programs and Exhibitions at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP), New York

Kari Conte will speak about her curatorial practice and programmatic initiatives at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP), which is the leading residency program for visual artists in the United States. She will also expand on ISCP's program in relation to Central and Eastern Europe. Following this, artists Gergely László, Szabolcs KissPál and Gabriella Csoszó, who were ACAX/ISCP residents in 2010 and 2011 respectively, will join the discussion and share their thoughts on working in New York in the context of their residency.

Kari Conte is a curator and writer based in New York, where she is Director of Programs and Exhibitions at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP). Prior to this, she was based in London, UK where she worked at the Whitechapel Gallery and received an MA in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art. She has curated or organized over 30 international exhibitions and has lectured on the history of exhibitions at Bard College and the Royal College of Art as well as on residencies at the Goethe-Institut and Independent Curators International (ICI). She recently curated a new commission by Ursula Mayer for Performa 11, New York and is currently working on the first monograph of artist Mierle Laderman Ukeles, to be published in 2012 by Sternberg Press, Berlin and Kunstverein, Amsterdam.
