Founded in 1919, AUC moved to a new 270-acre state-of-the-art campus in New
Cairo in 2008. The University also operates in its historic downtown
facilities, offering cultural events, graduate classes, and continuing
education. Student housing is available in both downtown Zamalek and New

accredited; its Engineering programs are accredited by ABET and the

*Job Description:*
The Art Program, Performing and Visual Arts Department, at the American
University in Cairo is seeking applications for a Professor of Practice in
Studio Art, to begin Fall 2012. The successful applicant will be required
to teach 6 courses per academic year (3 courses per semester) in
multi-disciplinary visual arts courses, as well as in special topics within
the applicant’s expertise. The position also carries administrative
responsibilities at the department, school, and university levels. The
initial appointment is for two years and maybe extended, after review in
five-year terms.

*Requirements:*
MA, MFA or terminal degree in Art or a closely related discipline is
required. The successful candidate will teach all levels of, courses.
Applicants should have a thorough knowledge in contemporary art practice.
Experience with cross-disciplinary collaboration and course development is
fundamental. Preference will be given to candidates with solid
understanding of the Art market in Egypt -Arab World and globally along
with at least 3 years of successful teaching experience at the university
level.
