Dear all,

I am writing to invite you to contribute to a new artwork, "A People's
Archive of
Sinking and Melting".

"Sinking and melting" places exist around the world – they are places that
currently
or in the near future may "disappear" as a result of the impacts of climate
change.
You have been invited to participate because you might know someone who
lives
in such a place, where you are is a sinking or melting place, or may become
one.

Please consider forwarding this invitation or sending an object to be a
part of "A
People's Archive".
If you do, you will be credited as the contributor and your item will be
included and
displayed publicly in the Archive. Your location will be added to a map of
'sinking
and melting' places, which will mark where all the objects in the
collection have
come from. By mapping the objects, we will also be making a map of
politics of
climate and place.

Information about how to contribute, including shipping information and a
FAQ, is
online at

The archive is being organized by Amy Balkin, an artist from San Francisco,
with
support from Cape Farewell (www.capefarewell). It will first be exhibited in
September at the Ballroom Marfa, Texas, and then travel internationally.

Please email any questions about participating to
registrar at sinkingandmelting.org

I hope you are able to participate! Feel free to share this email with
others.

With thanks,

Amy Balkin and Cassie Thornton, co-registrars
