Seba Kurtis - Bevándorló akták

Seba Kurtis (1974) Buenos Airesben született és nevelkedett. Családjával
Argentínát a 2001-es gazdasági válság alatt hagyta el. Öt évet illegális
bevándorlóként dolgozott Spanyolországban, mielőtt fényképezni kezdett.
Manchesterben él és dolgozik. A POC - Piece of Cake nemzetközi fotóművészeti
hálózat tagja. Munkáit kiállították a Noorderlicht Fotofestivalon
Groningenben, és a New York Photo Festivalon 2009-ben. Önálló kiállítása
volt a londoni Host Galleryben és a manchester Kiosk Galleryben. Publikált a
Foam International Photography Magazine-ban és máshol.

Bevándorló akták

Seba Kurtis missziója, hogy emlékművet emeljen az anonim, illegális ember
dicsőségének. Munkái ismételten hívják fel a figyelmünket egy periférikus
embertömegre, akik zord szociális és geopolitikai körülményeknek
köszönhetően vesztik el a jogaikat és alapvető emberi méltóságokat.
Rendkívüli empátiával kutatja a reménytelenség állapotát.

A "Bevándorló akták" több összefüggő fotósorozat, amelyen Seba évekig
dolgozott. Ezek a sorozatok az illegális bevándorlás és az embercsempészet
személyes élményeinek lenyomatai.  A projekt elszigetelt és személyes
narratívákon keresztül (Mexikóiak az USA-ban, egyiptomiak Olaszországban,
afrikaiak a Kanári-szigeteken) globális jelenséget térképez fel.

Seba Curtis - Immigration Files

Seba Kurtis (1974) was born and raised in Buenos Aires. He left Argentine
with his family during the 2001 economical crisis, and spent more than five
years in Spain as an illegal immigrant worker before he turned to
photography. He lives and works in Manchester, Great Britain. He is a member
of POC - Piece of Cake, an international network of photographers. His works
were exhibited at Noorderlicht Fotofestival in Groningen and the New York
Photo Festival in 2009, and also in solo exhibitions at Host Gallery in
London and Kiosk Gallery in Manchester. He was published at Foam
International Photography Magazine and elsewhere.

Immigration Files

Seba Kurtis has made it his mission to raise a monument for the glory
of  anonymous,
illegal men. His works repeatedly call our attention to a peripheric mass of
people who lose their rights and basic human dignity due to harsh social and
geo-political conditions. He explores the state of despair with
extraordinary empathy.

Immigration Files is a bundle of photographic series, which Seba has been
working on for several years. These series are manifestations of personal
experience on illegal migration and human trafficing. The project maps a
global phenomenon, while examining isolated narratives of Mexicans in the
USA, Egyptians coming to Italy and Africans going to the Canary Islands.
