CHECK-IN BUDAPEST nemzetközi kurátori vizitor programjának következő vendégei

Anne Barlow, a New York-i Art in General igazgatója, a 2012-es Bukarest Biennále (BB5) kurátora
és
Danna Taggar Heller, Tel Avivban élő független kurátor.

Előadásában Anne Barlow a New York-i művészeti szcéna egyik meghatározó non-profit intézményéről, az Art in General-ról fog beszélni. Az Art In General programját elsősorban fiatal, feltörekvő, nemzetközi képzőművészek határozzák meg. Az intézmény nagy hangsúlyt fektet műteremprogramjára és ennek keretén belül új művek létrehozásának támogatására.

Danna Taggar Heller a kortárs izraeli művészet aktuális tendenciáit mutatja be, különös tekintettel az utópia és a politika dichotómiájára az Izraelben vagy külföldön alkotó izraeli művészek munkáiban. A prezentáció során ki fog térni kurátori projektjektjeire is, a prezentációt rövid videóvetítés zárja.

Anne Barlow a New York-i Art in General vezetője, a 2012 májusában megrendezésre kerülő Bukarest Biennále (BB5) kurátora. 1999-2006-ig Barlow a New York-i New Museum múzeumpedagógiai- és egyéb nyilvános programjaiért felelős kurátora volt, többek között ő kezdeményezte a Museum as Hub projektet is.
Mielőtt 1999-ben New York-ba költözött, Barlow a Glasgow Museums kortárs művészeti és design osztályának, valamint az edinburgh-i Scottish Arts Council feltörekvő skót művészeket bemutató gyűjteményének kurátorkaként tevékenykedett.
Független kurátorként olyan projektekben működött közre, mint a Copy It, Steal It, Share It (Michele Thurszszal az isztambuli Borusan Art Gallery-ben, 2003), illetve vendégkurátorként film- és médiaprojekteket szervezett a perth-i Treshold Artspace-nek (2007).
Barlow többek között a Liverpool University Press/Tate Gallery Liverpool; a leeds-i Henry Moore Institute; az oldenburgi Edith Russ House for Media Art; a New York-i New Museum és az Art in General kiadványaiban publikált. Előadóként és vendégkritikusként pedig olyan intézményeknek dolgozott, mint a londoni Royal College of Art; a varsói Centre for Contemporary Art; a bécsi MUMOK; a New York University; a New York-i The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art vagy a londoni Tate Modern.

Danna Taggar Heller Tel Avivban élő független művészeti kurátor. Francia irodalom és művészettörténet szakos diplomája mellett tanulmányait a Tel Aviv University, Museum Curatorial Studies szakán végezte.
Kurátorként elsősorban a videóművészet és a performansz műfaja, valamint interdiszciplináris kulturális- és történeti projektek érdeklik. Jelenleg egy Nowy Sacz-ban (Lengyelország) megvalósuló csoportos kiállítás, valamint egy, az izraeli labdarúgás történetét feldolgozó projekt előkészítésén dolgozik. Taggar Heller a 2012-es IKT – International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art éves kongresszusának főszervezője. Kurátori munkássága során az alábbi intézményekkel működött együtt: CCA, Tel Aviv; University Art Gallery, Tel Aviv University; ITCA – Prague Triennale; Eretz-Israel Museum, Tel Aviv; MoBY, Museum of Bat Yam; Makor, New York; The Modern Art Museum, Fort Worth. The next guests and lecturers of the
CHECK-IN BUDAPEST curatorial visitor program
organized by ACAX | Agency for Contemporary Art Exchange

are Anne Barlow, Executive Director of Art in General, New York, and appointed curator of the 2012 Bucharest Biennale (BB5)
and
Danna Taggar Heller, Tel Aviv-based independent curator.

In her lecture Anne Barlow will talk about Art in General and its programmatic initiatives. Art in General, New York, is a non-profit arts organization that supports emerging artists primarily through the commissioning of new work and an international residency exchange program.

Danna Taggar Heller will talk about recent trends in contemporary art from Israel, with a focus on the dichotomy of Utopia vs. Politics in the practice of Israeli artists living in Israel or abroad. The presentation will include examples from her curatorial work as well as a short video screening.

Anne Barlow is the Executive Director of Art in General, New York and is the appointed Curator of BB5, the Bucharest Biennale, that will take place in May 2012. From 1999-2006, Barlow was Curator of Education and Media Programs at the New Museum, New York, where she oversaw the scope of the museum’s educational and public programs. She initiated and developed Museum as Hub, a global network initiative that connects the museum with international contemporary art partners in Cairo, Eindhoven, Mexico City and Seoul.
Prior to moving to New York from Scotland in 1999, Barlow was Curator of Contemporary Art and Design at Glasgow Museums. She was also formerly the Curator of a national collection of works by emerging Scottish artists at the Scottish Arts Council, Edinburgh.
Independently, Barlow collaborated on projects including the exhibition Copy It, Steal It, Share it with Michele Thursz at Borusan Art Gallery, Istanbul (2003), and guest-curated film and media projects for Threshold Artspace, Perth, Scotland (2007). Barlow has published for organizations including Liverpool University Press/Tate Gallery Liverpool; the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds, United Kingdom; the Edith Russ House for Media Art, Oldenburg, Germany; the New Museum, New York; and Art in General. She was also a lecturer/ guest critic for organizations including the Royal College of Art, London; Centre for Contemporary Art, Warsaw; MUMOK, Vienna; New York University; The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York; and Tate Modern, London.

Danna Taggar Heller is a Tel Aviv-based independent art curator. She holds a B.A and M.A in French Literature and Art History as well as her Museum Curatorial Studies from the Tel Aviv University. She also pursued continuing education in curating private and corporate collections at New York University.
Her curatorial work spans the palette of video/performance events, thematic museum exhibitions as well as inter-disciplinary cultural and historical exhibitions.
Currently she is curating two exhibitions: a contemporary group exhibition in Nowy Sacz, Poland with artists from Israel and abroad, and a cultural exhibition on Israeli Football from its origins until today as seen in art and culture.
Taggar Heller is also organizing the annual congress of the IKT–International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv in 2012.
Among her curatorial work Taggar Heller has collaborated with the following institutions over the years: CCA, Tel Aviv /  University Art Gallery, Tel Aviv University / ITCA – Prague Triennale /  Eretz-Israel Museum, Tel Aviv / MoBY , Museums of Bat Yam / Makor, N.YC /  The Modern Art Museum, Fort Worth, Texas.
