Check in Budapest nemzetközi kurátori vizitor programjának következő vendége

Dan Byers, a pittsburghi Carnegie Museum of Art kortárs művészeti osztályának kurátora.

Előadásában Dan Byers legutóbbi kurátori projektjeiről és a kortárs képzőművészeti tendenciákat bemutató, nagy hagyományokkal rendelkező Carnegie International-ről fog beszélni. A Carnegie International 1896 óta kerül megrendezésre, így Észak Amerika legelső, a világ második legrégebbi ilyen jellegű művészeti seregszemléje.

Dan Byers jelenleg a pittsburghi Carnegie Museum of Art (CMA) kortárs művészeti osztályának kurátora és a 2013-ban megrendezésre kerülő 56. Carnegie International társkurátora Daniel Baumann-nal és Tina Kukielskivel együtt.
Korábban a Walker Art Center-ben ösztöndíjas kurátorként, és a philadelphiai Fabric Workshop and Museum-ban kurátor asszisztensként dolgozott. Diplomáit a Bard College, Center for Curatorial Studies-ban és a Skidmore College, Studio Art szakán szerezte.
Legutóbbi kurátori projektjei közé tartozik a CMA-ban 2010-ben William E. Jones, Joachim Koester és Nashashibi/Skaer munkáiból megrendezett Forum 65: Reanimation; a performance-művész James Lee Byars és a CMA kapcsolatát vizsgáló Ordinary Madness, valamint Ragnar Kjartansson jelenleg is látható Song című kiállítása. Byers jelenleg a 2011-es Pittsburgh Biennále előkészítésén és a glasgow-i Cathy Wilkes egyéni tárlatán dolgozik.

The next guest and lecturer of the
Check in Budapest curatorial visitor program
organized by ACAX | Agency for Contemporary Art Exchange

is Dan Byers, associate curator of Contemporary Art at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh and co-curator of the 2013 Carnegie International.

In his lecture Dan Byers will talk about his latest curatorial projects at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh and will present the Carnegie International, which is the oldest exhibition of international contemporary art in North America, and the second oldest in the world.

Date: 13 April 2011 (Wednesday), 6 pm
Place: Labor, 1053 Budapest, Képíró utca 6.

Dan Byers is Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. He is co-curator of the 2013 Carnegie International along with Daniel Baumann and Tina Kukielski.
Prior to working at the Carnegie, Byers was Curatorial Fellow at the Walker Art Center, and Assistant to the Directors at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia.He has an MA from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, and a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College.
His recent exhibitions at CMA include Ragnar Kjartansson: Song; Reanimation: Jones, Koester, Nashashibi/Skaer which featured William E. Jones, Joachim Koester, and Nashashibi/Skaer; and Ordinary Madness, a large-scale, wide ranging exhibition and film program based in the museum's collection. Upcoming exhibitions include the Pittsburgh Biennial, and an exhibition of paintings and sculpture by Glasgow-based artist Cathy Wilkes.
