> Responsibilities:

> The PFA Film and Video Collection Assistant plays a key role in
> maintaining, conserving, and making accessible the PFA film and video
> collection of over 15,000 titles.

> -Log in/out film and video; keep up-to-date usage records.

> -Accession new acquisitions.

> -Verify correct film elements of all types, videotape formats, and new
> media.

> -Make inventory records, enter information into databases, prepare
> lists and reports.

> -Perform conservation and preservation duties such as the
> identification, detailed inspection and comparison, projection,
> storage, and shipping of fragile materials according to archival
> standards.

> -Monitor print condition, perform tests for vinegar syndrome, inspect
> prints and coordinate a complex schedule of inspections by PFA

> -Participate in the evaluation of materials for possible preservation.

> Required Qualifications:

> -Technical knowledge of film and video.

> -Familiarity with archival principles and ethics, and standard

> -Related record keeping experience.

> -Professional training or experience, and demonstrated skill, in
> handling and inspecting archival motion picture films.

> -Skill in carrying out administrative and clerical responsibilities
> and in organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines
> efficiently.

> -Demonstrated extreme accuracy and attention to detail; legible
> handwriting.
>
> -Demonstrated experience following through simultaneous projects to
> meet established goals.

> -Effective communication, collaboration and research skills.

> -Proficiency with MAC applications including Filemaker Pro, Microsoft
> Word, Photoshop.

> -Demonstrated technical/mechanical aptitude sufficient to operate
> power rewind machine, 16mm projector, and frame reproduction and video
> equipment.

> -Ability to handle and clean vinegar syndrome prints.

> -Clearance for heavy lifting and carrying up to 65 pounds and to
> handtruck up to 175 pounds; ability to shelve films using a ladder.

> -Valid CDL and safe driving record.
