 Patrícia Almeida (1970) Lisszabonban él és dolgozik. Fotóművészetetet
tanult a londoni Goldsmith College-ban. 2003 óta a POC - Piece of Cake,
nemzetközi fotóművészeti közösség egyik tagja. www.pocproject.com. 2004-ben
No Parking címmel és 2009-ban PORTOBELLO címmel jelent meg könyve. A nálunk
látható kiállítás, melynek címe "All Beauty Must Die', Paricia 2009-ben
azonos címmel rendezett önálló kiállításának egy része.

 All Beauty Must Die

 A kiállítás címe Nick Cave 1996-os dalának egy sora (Where the Wild Roses
Grow), a térben a természettel összeolvadó fiatalok láthatók. A fent
említett lisszaboni önálló kiállítás terében és az azt kísérő katalógusban
rockzenészektől is angol romantikus költőktől olvashatunk egyszerre
idézeteket. Mi a közös Patricia Almeida természetben fesztiválozó
fiatalokról készült képeiben, Keats, Wordsworth, William Blake költészetében
és a Talking Heads dalszövegeiben? A művész légies eszközökkel tesz
kísérletet, hogy párhuzamot vonjon az utópiák és az ifjúságunk elmúlása
között.

 Patrícia Almeida (1970) lives and works in Lisbon. She studied photography
at the Goldsmith College. She is member of POC - Piece of Cake,
international network of photographers, since 2003. www.pocproject.com. She
has published two books, one in 2004, entitled No Parking, and one in 2009,
entitled PORTOBELLO. The exhibition on view in Lumen is part of a larger
solo exhibition, entitled "All Beauty Must Die", which was took place in
Portugal, 2009.

All Beauty Must Die

 The title of the show is a line of Nick Cave's 1996 lyrics: Where the Wild
Roses Grow. In the space, we see photographs of youth in bewildered nature,
in idyllic perfection. In the above mentioned solo-exhibition and in the
accompanying catalalogue, lines by rock-musicians and English romantic poets
are quoted at once. What connect Patrica Almeida's photographs of youth
celebrating (in) nature, the poetry of Keats, Wordsworh and William Blake
and the lyrics of the Talking Heads? With delicat tools, the artist attempts
to compare the deterioration of youth and utopia.
