Lucia Nimcova: Egy afrikai vihar című kiállítását

A PH-Budapestet a három szervezet karöltve hozta létre, hogy évente 4
külföldi fotóművészt vendégül láthasson Budapesten. A program 2009 őszén
vette kezdetét. A PH- Budapest harmadik vendége Lucia Nimcova.

Lucia Nimcova: Egy afrikai vihar (pecsét vers)

Lucia Nimcova Kisumu városában, Kenyai utazása során ismerkedett meg egy
pecsétkészítővel. Kisumuban ő volt az egyik az összesen 15 pecsét-gyártó
közül, akik a város főútján kis asztalokról kínálják szolgálataikat.

"Különböző tevékenységekhez van szükséged bélyegekre. Ha fejlesztesz, vagy
egy legitím és hivatalos céget vezetsz, egy valódi pecsétre van szükséged.
Az többe kerül, és előbb vagy utóbb megkapod. Ha nem olyan fontos a
tevékenységet, vagy ha szeretnéd hogy a rendőrök   békénhagyjanak,
szakértőket alkalmazol, hogy hamisítsanak dokumentumokat. Ők bármilyen
pecsétet elkészítenek, amire csak szükséged van amíg az országban
tartózkodsz." (Lucia Nimcova)

Lucia Nimcova megbízta a szakembert, hogy David Rubadiri, Malawii költő *Egy
afrikai vihar* című verséről készítsen pecséteket. Együttműködésük során egy
hónap alatt 68 pecsét készült el. A vers  fragmentált, pecsételt képekből és
mondatrészekből, elszigetelt fogalmakból, Kenya számos fotólaborjaiból
összegyűjtött, ismeretlen emberek otthagyott képeinek hátain áll újra össze
a Lumen falain.

Lucia Nimcova: An African Thunderstorm

PH-Budapest was founded hand-in-hand by the three organisations to host 4
international photographers in Budapest every year. The program was launched
in the autumn of 2009. PH- Budapest's third artist in residence is Lucia
Nimcova.

Lucia Nimcova: An African Thunderstorm

Lucia Nimcova got acquainted with a handmade stamp-manufacturer in the city
of Kisumu, during her travel in Kenya. In Kisumu, he was one of the 15
stamp-producers with small tables on the main road.

"For different activities you might need a stamp. If you develop a programme
or create an official and legitimate business, you need a real stamp, you
pay extra money to get it, sooner or later. If your activity is not so
important, or you prefer to avoid police or other individuals to ask money
for no reasons, you have to commission professionals to falsify documents.
They help to manage all the necessary stamps during your stay in the
country, in reasonable time."

Lucia Nimcova commissioned the stamp expert to create stamps based on the
poem entitled An African Thunderstorm, by the Malawian poet, David Rubadiri.
During their collaboration, 68 different stamps were created in a month. The
poem now is being reconstructed by the artist on the walls of Lumen from its
fragmented, stamped images, words and isolated phrases on the backs of
photographs, which once were left behind by unknown people in various
photographers' studios in Kenya.
