*Low Beam / Tompított fény*

A Low Beam vagy Tompított fény c. kiállítás fényminimumnál és fénymaximumnál
készült, két különböző sorozatból válogatott képeket mutat be. Mindkét
sorozatnál megfigyelhető a valóságtól való elmozdulás szándéka valamiféle
irreális, sötéten derengő vízió felé.

A kiállítás egyik részében Németh Dániel erdőkben készített éjszakai
fényképei láthatók. A legtöbb kép teliholdnál, vagy kevés mesterséges
világításnál készült Budapest környékén. A képeken, mintha a fotós a
városból menekülve a városi lét idegenségének és elszigeteltségének árnyait
vetítené a fákra.

Ez az érzés különösen a kiállítás másik részének viszonylatában fog el. Itt
útkereső emberek csoportjait figyelhetjük meg, ahogy hétköznapi dolgaik
intézése közben, átmeneti helyeken; építkezéseken vagy útközben, gyanútlanul
belépnek a fotós által felállított fénycsapdába. A fotós váratlanul, csak a
fényképezés pillanatában adja ki magát, mindaddig láthatatlan marad. A
rajtaütés során a hátterek elsötétülnek a Nappal szemben és az emberek
kiszolgáltatott és védtelen gesztusai válnak láthatóvá a vaku fényében.

*Low Beam*

The Low Beam exhibition presents photographs selected from two different
series, one made in minimal, the other in maximal lighting. Both series
display the intention of moving from reality towards some unrealistic,
darkly looming vision.

One part of the exhibition shows photos Dániel Németh took in nocturnal
woods. Most of them were taken by the light of full moon or dim artificial
light in the vicinity of Budapest. As though fleeing from the city, the
photographer had projected the shadows of urban alienation and isolation on
the trees.

This feeling is especially prominent with respect to the other part of the
exhibition, where we can observe path-seeking people going about their daily
business in transitional spaces. At constructions, or in the street, they
unsuspectingly enter the light-trap set up by the photographer, who only
reveals himself at the moment of exposure - until then, he remains
invisible. Upon his descent on the subject, the backgrounds darken with the
sun flaring into the lens, and the flash exposes the naked and defenceless
gestures of the people.
