A program kb. két óra hosszúságú lesz, az előadásokat követő beszélgetésekkel együtt.Michael Rakowitz: Három projektMichael Rakowitz három munkáját mutatja be részletesen, köztérben és intézményi környezetben megvalósított projektekre egyaránt figyelmet fordítva. A “paraSITE” esetében (1997 óta) a művész felfújható menedéket épít hajléktalan emberek számára azok egyéni igényei szerint, amelyeket épületek fűtő, szellőző és légkondicionáló rendszereinek kimeneti nyílásaihoz lehet csatlakoztatni. A kiáradó meleg levegő egyszerre felfújja és fűti a kettős falú alkotmányt. A “Return” keretében (2006) Rakowitz újraindította iraki zsidó nagyapjának export-import vállalkozását Brooklynban (New York), hogy ingyenes szállítást biztosítson Irakba az Egyesült Államokban élő irakiak számára, és ezzel egy időben egy tonna világszerte elismert iraki datolyát importáljon az Egyesült Államokba. A datolyák, amelyeket harminc év után elsőként listáztak “Product of Iraq” megnevezéssel az Egyesült Államokban, körülményes utat jártak be, fennakadva az országot elhagyó iraki menekültek forgalmában, mintegy az ő történetüket is megjelenítve. A “The Invisible Enemy Should Not Exist” című projekt (2007 óta) keretében a művész arányosan rekonstruál az Iraki Nemzeti Múzeumból hadizsákmányként eltulajdonított műtárgyakat, amihez az Egyesült Államokban talált közel-keleti élelmiszerek csomagoló anyagait valamint arab közösséggel rendelkező amerikai városokban terjesztett ingyenes arab-angol újságok papírját használja. Az installáció szövevényes narratívaként alakul, amely a múzeumból ellopott műtárgyakra, jelenlegi hollétükre, a megszállás körüli eseményekre, a fosztogatásra és érintett szereplőkre vonatkozó kiterjedt kutatáson alapszikMichael Rakowitz 1973-ban születet, Chicagoban él. Munkája a közösségi/köztéri művészet vagy a szociális plasztika fogalmaival írható körül, amely az építészetet, a designt és a városi teret használja médiumaként. 2006-ban két hónapot dolgozott Budapesten a Trafó Galéria rezidens művészeként. Műveit az elmúlt években többek között a 16. Sydney Biennále, a P.S.1, a MoMA,a Creative Time (New York), a Galleria Alberto Peola (Torino), a Swiss Architectural Museum (Bázel), a 10. Isztambuli Biennále, a 8. Sharjah Biennále, a Contemporary Art Center (Vilnius) és a PAC (Milánó) mutatta be. 2007-ben a Sharjah Biennial Art Prize zsűri díjasa, 2006-ban a New York Foundation for the Art in Architecture & Environmental Structures díjazottja, 2003-ban Dena Foundation díjának nyertese. Jelenleg a chicagoi Northwestern University Művészeti Karának tanára.www.michaelrakowitz.com Caspar Stracke:A klón szépsége – A nyugati építészet másolása és újraértelmezése KeletenCaspar Stracke folyamatban lévő építészeti érdeklődésű projektjéről, a TIANDUCHENG-ről beszél, amely párizsi épületek “klónjaival” foglalkozik, valamint nyugati ikonikus épületeket és városi területeket hasonlít össze azok Kínában, Afrikában és egyéb helyeken fellelhető klónozott és “áthelyezett” megfelelőivel.Caspar Stracke New Yorkban élő német származású médiaművész. Filmmel és digitális médiával foglalkozik, média archeológiával és urbanizmussal/építészettel kapcsolatos kérdéseket vizsgál. Munkáit olyan intézmények mutatták be, mint a MoMA, a Whitney Museum (New York), a Yerba Buena (San Francisco), a ZKM (Karlsruhe), a Reina Sofia (Madrid),  és az ICC (Tokió). Kiállított szerte Észak- és Dél Amerikában, Európában és Ázsiában. 1999-ben fejezte be CIRCLE'S SHORT CIRCUIT című filmjét, amelyet az Egyesült Államokan és Európában több helyen bemutattak, és bekerült a New York-i Whitney Museum “American Century Part II” című kiállításába.2006/07-ben A dél-koreai Ulsan Egyetem vendég professzora volt.Stracke aktív tagja a THE TING nevű, New York-i netkulturális kapcsolódásnak.2005 óra társigazgatója a “video_dumbo” New York-i kortárs videó művészeti fesztiválnak.Együttműködött olyan művészcsoportokkal, mint a bbm, a mostra, a forward motion theater vagy a dancekumikokimoto.www.videokasbah.net Try Again. Three ProjectsMichael Rakowitz will present three of his works in depth, focusing on projects produced both in the public realm and within an institutional context. In "paraSITE" (1997-ongoing), the artist custom-builds inflatable shelters for homeless people that attach to the exhaust vents of a building's heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system; the warm air leaving the vent simultaneously inflates and heats the double-membrane structure. In "Return" (2006), Rakowitz reopens his Iraqi-Jewish grandfather's import-export business in Brooklyn, New York, to provide free shipping to Iraq for Iraqis living in the US, and also to import one ton of world-renowned Iraqi dates to the US. The first items in the US to list Product of Iraq in over 30 years, the dates traveled a circuitous path, getting caught in the traffic of Iraqi refugees fleeing the country, becoming a surrogate for their story. In "The Invisible Enemy Should Not Exist" (2007-ongoing), the artist reconstructs to scale artifacts looted from the National Museum of Iraq, using the packaging and wrappers of Middle Eastern foodstuffs found in the US, and also free Arabic-English newspapers distributed throughout cities in the US where there is an Arab community. The installation unfolds as an intricate narrative, based on extensive research about the artifacts stolen from the Museum, the current status of their whereabouts, the series of events surrounding the invasion, the plundering, and related protagonists.Michael Rakowitz was born in 1973, he lives in Chicago. His work can be described as public art or social sculpture that utilizes architecture, design and urban space as a medium. In 2006, he spent two months in Budapest, working with Trafó Gallery. His work was shown at the 16th Sydney Biennial, P.S.1, MoMA, Creative Time (New York), Galleria Alberto Peola (Torino), the Swiss Architectural Museum (Basel), the 10th Istanbul Biennial, the 8th Sharjah Biennial, the Contemporary Art Center (Vilnius) and PAC (Milan), among others.2007 Sharjah Biennial Art Prize, Jury Award; 2006 Award of the New York Foundation for the Art in Architecture & Environmental Structures; 2003 Dena Foundation of Contemporary Art Award. Currently, he is assistant professor at the Art Department of Northwestern University, Chicago. www.michaelrakowitz.com Caspar Stracke:The Beauty of the Clone – Replication and Re-Interpretation of Western Architecture in the EastIn this talk Caspar Stracke will introduce TIANDUCHENG, his recent architectural work-in-progress project on cloned Parisian architecture as well as compare a number of Western iconic buildings and urban landscapes with their cloned and "displaced" counterparts in China, Africa and elsewhere.Caspar Stracke is a German media artist from New York  City.He works with film and digital media and with topics around media archaeology and urbanism / architecture.His works have been shown in institutions such as MoMA, the Whitney Museum (New York), Yerba Buena (San Francisco), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Reina Sofia (Madrid),  and ICC (Tokyo). He has been exhibited throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.In 1999 he completed a  feature-length film project CIRCLE'S SHORT CIRCUIT, which toured throughout the US and Europe and was selected for the “American Century Part II” exhibition at the Whitney Museum, NY.In 2006/07 he was a guest professor at Ulsan University in South Korea.  Stracke is an active member of THE THING, a NY-based nexus for net culture. Since 2005 he is the co-director of “video_dumbo”, a festival for contemporary video art in NYC.
