(English) 2006 Selection: Call for entries

Dates of the 28th Montpellier Festival: 27 October-5 November 2006.
On line registration of films to be selected for
the different competition or panorama sections is
available from 15 February to 31 August 2006 on
our website <http://www.cinemed.tm.fr>www.cinemed.tm.fr.
Participation is open to films completed since
January 1, 2005. The subject and handling of the
films must contribute to the cinematic
representation of the Mediterranean and the
director must be from one of the states in the
Mediterranean Basin, the Black Sea states, Portugal or Armenia.
Deadline for registration:
- Fiction features: 31 August 2006
- Fiction shorts: 15 July 2006
- Documentaries: 15 July 2006
- Experimental : 15 July 2006
- Development Grant: 15 July 2006

(English) More than €85,000 of prizes and grants

Once again this year more than €50,000 in cash
well be awardeed to the winners, in addition to
prizes consisting in different services and
grants worth €35,000 offered by sponsors.

Masharawi shown as previews at the 27th
Montpellier Festival (2005) are to be released in France.

Silver Leopard at the Locarno Festival in August
2005, this strong film immerses us in the violent
everyday lives of Kurd refugees in Germany.

will be shown to the French public. In his new
film, Masharawi shows a filmmaker looking for
actors for the Palestine National Theatre and who

Waiting is performed by actors whose accuracy and
contained emotion are amazing.' (Arte-TV)

(English) The 3rd meetings on artistic education in images
[]
Held within the framework of the regional centre
for artistic education and training in cinema,
audiovisual and multimedia, these meetings will
be an opportunity for discussion with
professionals, teachers, coordinators and
institutions on experience of promotion of
awareness of moving images—cinema, video and multimedia creation.
Projects in progress or already performed in
various regions will be presenteds at round table
discussions and workshops centred on digital
arts, new experimental images and short films.
The meetings will end with a progress report on
the "Lycéens au cinéma" operation in
Languedoc-Roussillon in collaboration with the
Alès-Itinérances Film Festival (the regional
coordinator of the operation) that starts in the
evening of Friday 17 March (17-26 March,

The second day (Friday 17 March) will be devoted
to short films, to the means of renewing the ways
in which young people address and understand
these films and initiation in critical analysis.
The Festival du cinéma méditerranéen will
participate and report on the experience of the
Young People's Jury that has awarded a short film
prize funded by the FASILD for a number of years now.
The meetings will be held on Thursday 16 and
Friday 17 March 2006 at the Médiathèque in
