Dear Friends of Mobile Academy,

with this email we forward a request of our friend Jan Ritsema, the
dutch director that has been teaching in Mobile Academy 1999 (Bochum)
and Mobile Academy 2006 (Warsaw) as well. He is running an
interesting platform called PerformingArtsForum in a castle close to
Reims/France. This project is facing heavy financial problems in the
moment. Please find the details in the attached mail - we support
him, and we hope that some of you will do so too.
Please excuse cross-posting if you have received this letter already
from other senders.

Kind Regards,

Mobile Academy and Blackmarket for Useful Knowledge and Non-Knowledge

Subject: Friends for PAF

Dear friends,

We would like to draw your attention to an extraordinary initiative
you might have heard of already: PAF (PerformingArtsForum), a project
started by a number of international artists, theoreticians,
activists and cultural workers, is a grand estate located in the
countryside between Paris and Brussels. The Dutch director and
performer Jan Ritsema has bought this former convent and offered it
to the international artistic community in order to create an open
platform for non-institutional encounters, exchange and work in the
fields of performing arts, visual arts, music, film, literature, new
media, theory and cultural production. Basically PAF is a site for
concentration and work accessible for everybody.

Since its launch in December 2005 a growing number of individuals and
groups has used PAF as a working place and involved themselves into
this self-organised project over 350 people used PAF since
December 2005. Although this initiative is unique and has proven to
be necessary and highly appreciated internationally, PAF is facing
life-threatening financial problems. PAF is based solely on private
money, i.e. the initiator’s limited economy, and bridging the time
until subsidies will be found (a difficult and time-consuming
process) could turn out to be an insurmountable barrier for this
project. To make a long story short: PAF needs financial support in
order to come through this critical period. We would like to ask you
to support PAF either with a single monetary donation or by joining
the development association “Friends of PAF” with an aid on a
regular basis. You can easily make your donation by PayPal or by a
standard bank transfer (see information below).

Your help is crucial to the continuation of PAF. In order for the
artistic project PAF to become eligible for regional, national and
European subsidies, PAF the building has to adapt to new security
regulations. Your donation is therefore most needed for urgent
security adjustments and insurance, so that PAF the artistic project
can fulfill the conditions to apply for subsidy.

If you want to know more about PAF, its mission and activities,
please see the PAF_INFO file
(http://pa-f.net/files/pa-f/ a.PAF_INFO_engl.pdf)
or visit the web site www.pa-f.net.

We thank you for your attention and contribution in advance.
