Arduino + Hardware Toys

Massimo Banzi & Somlai-Fischer Szabolcs

Unique joint of two low tech hardware-based workshops!
Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple
i/o board and a development environment that implements the
Processing/Wiring language. Arduino can be used to develop stand-alone
interactive objects or can be connected to software on your computer
(e.g. Flash, Processing, Max/MSP). The boards can be assembled by hand
or purchased preassembled; the open-source IDE can be downloaded for free.
In Low Tech Sensors and Actuators project, Adam and Usman Haque have
been collecting the approaches to build low tech toys that might be
useful for artists and architects working with interactive environments.
You can build the whole list of very nice, cheap, useful gadgets ranging
from physical input into the computer, connecting mobile phone to
physical devices up to 10 euro touchscreens.
Massimo and Adam come to Bratislava to join the forces and build with
you already tested and/or new gadgets!

GPS (Global Positioning System)

Maróy Ákos

The workshop will focus on the fundamentals of GPS technology, giving an
insight into GPS satellites, recievers and NMEA protocols most commonly
used by GPS recievers. Possible uses of the data available from GPS
recievers will be covered, such as integration with Google Maps.
