Funded primarily by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche
Forschungsgemeinschaft), an interdisciplinary Graduate School on

Media of History - History of Media
(Mediale Historiographien)


is beginning to operate at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, the
University of Erfurt, and the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena.


This Graduate School will study the inter-relations of media, history,
and historiography since the nineteenth century, focussing on historical
and theoretical aspects of the representation and production of history
in various media and their technologies.  Further information about the

In its first phase (beginning  January 1st, 2005) are available

14 Doctoral Scholarships (two years each ; max. three years)

2 Post-Doctoral Fellowships (two years each).


The organizers are looking for excellent graduate students from the
fields of media studies, history, literature, and cultural studies.
Applications from countries other than Germany are especially
encouraged.  Generally, the age limit for the doctoral scholarships is
twenty-eight years while it is thirty-five for the post-doctoral
fellowships.

Applications are due by October 1st, 2004, and should include the
following:
-	Project description (approximately ten pages, including a timeline)
-	Curriculum Vitae including publication list (if applicable)
-	Transcripts
