MAAP (Multimedia Art Asia Pacific) is an organisation and festival that
explores New Media Art across a range of art forms and practices
emphasising interactive multimedia, Internet, digital media, animation and
projects integrating new media. MAAP was established to bring focus to the
'unmapped' cultural new media content emerging from Australia and the Asia
Pacific regions and is now an Asia Pacific touring new media arts festival
and web site resource, partnering with key organisations in our region.
Our next major event is placed in Singapore where venues include The
Singapore Art Museum, The Substation, The Esplanade, Earl Lu Gallery where
exhibitions, screenings, artists talks with formal conference hosted by Nanyang
Technological University. MAAP in Singapore is part of the " SENI:2004 Art
and the Contemporary" cultural festival.
MAAP is seeking proposals and expressions of interest in 4 major categories:
1) Call for New Media Art Proposals
2) Call for Net Art
3) Expressions of Interest - net.works/. an online residency.
4) Call for Conference Papers 'New Media Art Education - GRAVITY and
other forces'
1) New Media Art Proposals
Artists working in any combination of New Media practice are invited to
submit proposals and preview material. MAAP especially seeks work from
Asia Pacific regions. Please submit descriptions of project and
artists background.
2) MAAP is seeking completed Net Art projects to exhibit in the Online
component of the festival. These works may also be Exhibitied in gallery
situations as part of the exhbition program in Singapore. We are
particularly interested in works that address the 'GRAVITY' thematic.
3) Expressions of Interest - net.works/. an online residency.
net.works/ - an on-line residency is designed to support artists to
develope new work for the medium of the internet generating dialogue,
exchange, and collaboration within the Asia Pacific and Australia regions.
net.works/online project that will offer 4 artists support, training and
webspace to achieve new work specifically designed for the internet. MAAP
will seek to select artists that will most benefit from the opportunity to
enrich and extend the boundaries of the artists practice and is
particulary interested in conceptually mature artists that have not yet
had extensive experience in the field of Net Art. The four artists will be
invited to 'MAAP in Singapore'
4) Call for Papers - Conference Papers 'New Media Art Education - GRAVITY
and other forces' MAAP invites papers and presentations on topics that
address all areas of New Media Art Education - including technical,
pedagogical and aesthetic aspects. We also encourage creative
presentations and demonstrations. Organised and hosted by Nanyang
Technological University in collaboration with Siggraph Singapore Chapter.
