Mission:
In the Post-Industrial Age, global village and world island
are no longer theoretical nouns. Rather, they are actual things that can be
felt and sensed. Interaction among nations, races and societies are a
regular part of life. Artistic interactions are a type of exchange that
center on spirit and feeling. Artistic interactions enable people to
understand and bridge the gap between cultural differences. Art also
highlights the various thought processes of artists from different areas.
Therefore, staging cultural exchanges is an important trend.
Container transportation is the most common means of distribution of goods.
The standardization of containers has made the exchange of goods among
people both simpler and more convenient. Containers have played an
important role in creating a global village and world island. The materials
used to make containers, the design of the containers, the method of
construction, painting, as well as the means for filling, loading, and
movement all embody the spirit of modern industrial technology. As a
result, containers are a symbol of the exchange of goods in the modern age.
In order to highlight the unique cultural perspective of Kaohsiung and its
port culture, and to promote artistic exchanges among international port
cities, the theme for the 2003 exhibition will be Post-civilization.
Outstanding artists from Taiwan and abroad are welcome to take part in this
festival.
