The Center for Arts and Culture (CEU) cordially invites you to the public 
lecture on the Intersections- the contemporary composer and record 
producer by Max Schubel.
Date: at 4. p.m. November 14, Friday
Venue: Popper Room, CEU (Bp., 5th district, Nádor u. 9.)

Max Schubel has been working in the music industry in many varying 
capacities: he is founder of the Opus One Records (1966) – designed to 
foster and encourage contemporary American music – resulted in over 
180 releases; he is also a composer (Aurora Angelica, Elation, 
Recherche pour la Vision au dela, Cyreniade and Guale); and moreover, 
he regularly teaches composition, orchestration and recording at the 
Oberlin Conservatory. 
At this lecture he speaks about the different experiences he gained 
during his career as a composer and record producer. 
In order to have comparative picture on record producing, the Budapest 
Music Center is invited to act as respondent and giving examples based 
on their “local” experience in the music industry.
Therefore, this lecture is intended to be a not so formal presentation 
with plenty of music and space and time for question.

(Intersections – the contemporary composer and record producer) 
című előadására.

Max Schubel évtizedek óta a zeneipar különböző területein dolgozik 
New Yorkban. 1966-ban létrehozta az Opus One Records nevű 
lemezkiadó-vállalatot, mely kevésbé ismert amerikai kortárs 
zeneszerzők műveinek közzétételével foglalkozik. Munkájuk eredménye 
eddig több, mint 180 lemez. Schubel emellett zeneszerző, több műve 
jelent meg CD-n (Aurora Angelica, Elation, Recherche pour la Vision au 
dela, Cyreniade, Guale); zeneszerzést és hangszerelést tanít az 
Oberlin Conservatory-ban.

Az előadáson szakmai tapasztalatairól, az amerikai kortárs zene és 
hanglemezkiadás helyzetéről fog beszélni számos zenei illusztrációval. 
Felkért hozzászólóként itt lesznek a BMC munkatársai, akik helyi 
tapasztalataik alapján segítik, hogy az előadás összetettebb képet 
adjon a kortárs zenéről és lemezkiadásról.

Az előadás angol nyelvű. A részvétel díjtalan. Minden érdeklődőt
