Director/Curator
Art Gallery of York University

The Art Gallery of York University (AGYU) presents exhibitions of a
contemporary nature, often experimental and probing in scope, complementary
to York's progressive atmosphere. Through an internationally recognized
exhibition program of innovative and challenging art by professional
artists from Canada and abroad, the AGYU aims to bring important art to
Canada, and to reflect and define the cutting edge of contemporary Canadian
and international art. Located on York University's north Toronto campus,
the AGYU also partners with the Faculty of Fine Arts to provide a unique
teaching laboratory for York students. York is Canada's third largest
University, with over 40,000 full- and part-time students in ten Faculties.

as well as for art installations across the University.

equivalent), the successful candidate will, ideally, have practical art
school training. He or she will be a dedicated professional with
substantial experience and success in curatorial work and management within
a public museum or art gallery. The new Director/Curator must also possess
strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, an inspiring and
effective leadership style, and expertise in creating and implementing
policies that will lead this unique institution into the next chapter of
its history.

York University is committed to employment equity and has implemented a

Canada policy, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
