a C3 rezidenciaprogramjában részt vevõ videomûvész
bemutatójára és az azt követõ beszélgetésre

Ute Ströer 1998 és 2002 között Hollandiában, az enschedei Képzõ-és 
Iparmûvészeti Akadémia Médiamûvészeti és „Monumentális Mûvészeti” Tanszékén 
végezte tanulmányait, jelenleg pedig a braunschweigi Képzõmûvészeti 
Fõiskola Experimentális Film Tanszékén tanul, Birgit Hein tanítványaként. 
Berlinben él és dolgozik.
Enschedei diplomafilmjével elnyerte a rotterdami TENT Képzõmûvészeti 
Központ által Hollandiában tanuló diákok számára alapított videomûvészeti 
„Akadémiai Díját”, amely egy új mû létrehozására szóló egyhónapos 
rezidenciát tett lehetõvé a C3-ban.
A bemutatón Ute Ströer levetíti Aspergo c. (2002, 8’) díjnyertes 
videofilmjét, valamint a C3-ban április folyamán készült új munkáját, 
melynek munkacíme: Sugarmoon (2003, cca. 9’).
Ute Ströer mûfaji kísérleteket folytat a videóval, kísérletezik a testtel, 
a nemek átváltozásával, oda-visszaalakulásával, sajátos poézis és 
bensõséges önarckép-metamorfózisok formájában. A vágyakozás és átváltozás 
munkájának vezérmotívuma. A képpel folytatott kísérleteiben álmait és 
rémálmait kelti életre tükrök és meghatározhatatlan hangok segítségével.
Aspergo görögül megporzást jelent, Ute Ströer munkájában azonban a 
hagyományos értelemtõl eltérõen a természet mûv(ész)i világa és a mûvészet 
természetes világa közötti metamorfózisra utal.

Ute Ströer studied Media Art and Monumental Art at the Academy of Art & 
Deign in Enschede in The Netherlands (1998-2002), and is currently studying 
Experimental Film with Birgit Hein at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste 
Braunschweig in Germany. She currently lives and works in Berlin.

With her diploma film from Enschede, she won the TENT.Centre for Visual 
Arts Rotterdam video “Academy Award” for students in The Netherlands. Her 
prize was the possibility to produce a new work within a one-month 
residency at C3.

Ute will show the video work with which she won the award, Aspergo (2002, 
8’), as well as her new work, (working title: Sugarmoon, 2003, approx. 9’), 
which she has been working on here during the month of April.

Ute Ströer experiments with the video medium, experiments with the body, 
experiments with inter-transforming genders, in a poesie of her-self, in an 
intimate metamorphosis of self-portraiture, in which the primal forces are 
longing and dust. She brings her dreams  and her nightmares  to life 
through her experiments with the image, with mirrors and with indefinable 
sounds.

Aspergo means pollination, a metamorphosis between Nature and artifice.
Sugarmoon unravels a recent dream of this moonchild
