(Deadline: July 29, Source: Artsadmin e-Digest)
Performance Research
Vol. 8 No. 2 (Summer 2003)
'Bodiescapes' will be the second issue of Performance Research, Vol.8,
Nos.1-4, 2003 which explores the body and the senses in performance in
four related issues: 'On Voices', 'Bodiescapes' 'On Smell' and
'Moving Bodies' (tbc). The issue is jointly edited by Ric Allsopp -
editor and co-founder of 'Performance Research', Dartington College of
Arts, UK; and guest editor Peter M. Boenisch - Institute for Theatre
Studies, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany.
Deadlines are as follows:
Proposals: July 29th 2002
Draft manuscripts: September 27th, 2002
Finalized material: November 15th, 2002
Publication Date: June 2003.
'Bodiescapes' investigates the body of the performer and of the
spectator in, around and at performance. The issue will highlight three
central aspects of the body in performance:
* 'Body Matters' - putting forward a theoretical framework, applying and
weighing up for example deconstructivist, postmodern, semiotic or
phenomenological approaches;
* 'Body (Re)Members' - focusing practically on the (non-)moving body, on
ideologies of physical theatre training as well as insight from practice
based research;
* 'Body Shapes / Body Escapes?' - opening up the perspective to
historical, contemporary, political and performative case studies on
corporeality.
ALL proposals, submissions and general enquiries should be sent direct
to:
