International Artists Fellowships: Live Art

Applications are invited for an outstanding opportunity for two live
artists to develop their practice in the context of a three month HIAP
residency at the Cable Factory in Helsinki with additional lecturing work
at the Turku Academy. The residencies will occur between November 2002 -
April 2003.
The deadline for application is 6pm, Friday 23 August 2002. No application
after that date will be considered. Completed applications will be
considered by the Live Art Advisory Panel who will shortlist artists for
selection by HIAP. HIAP and the Turku Academy will advise applicants of
decisions in October 2002.

Call for Contributions 'Bodiescapes' - Performance Research

Vol. 8  No. 2  (Summer 2003)

'Bodiescapes' will be the second issue of Performance Research, Vol.8,
Nos.1-4, 2003  which explores the body and the senses in performance in
four related issues: 'On Voices',  'Bodiescapes'  'On Smell'  and
'Moving Bodies' (tbc). The issue is jointly edited by  Ric Allsopp  -
editor and co-founder of 'Performance Research', Dartington College of
Arts, UK;  and guest editor Peter M. Boenisch  -  Institute for Theatre
Studies, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany.

Deadlines are as follows:

Proposals: July 29th 2002
Draft manuscripts: September 27th, 2002
Finalized material: November 15th, 2002
Publication Date: June 2003.

'Bodiescapes' investigates the body of the performer and of the
spectator  in, around and at performance. The issue will highlight three
central aspects of the body  in performance:

* 'Body Matters' - putting forward a theoretical framework, applying and
weighing up for example deconstructivist, postmodern, semiotic or
phenomenological  approaches;
* 'Body (Re)Members' - focusing practically on the (non-)moving body, on
ideologies of physical theatre training as well as insight from practice
based research;
* 'Body Shapes / Body Escapes?' - opening up the perspective to
historical, contemporary, political and performative case studies on
corporeality.
