Proposals are being accepted for artists' residencies in PHOTOGRAPHY, ARTISTS' BOOKS, DIGITAL VIDEO AND MULTIMEDIA, 8 and 16mm FILM and ANALOG VIDEO. Residencies are project based. VSW will provide access to facilities, housing and an honorarium for up to one month ($1000-1 month) February-June, September-November, 2002

Visual Studies Workshop 

Requesting work from artists and producers currently working in analog and digital electronic media* to submit films and videos of their work up to 28 minutes in length. Multimedia presentations are excluded. The maker should have sole control over the production in every phase, including content, capital investment, distribution and ownership. All formats of film and video are eligible but a high quality VHS videotape copy must be submitted for preview and cablecast. A fee of $8.00 per minute will be paid to those film and video makers whose work as been accepted.

3rd Annual SLC Experimental Film and Video Festival, Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, New York.

Sarah Lawrence College (located 20 minutes North of Manhatten in Westchester County) is soliciting works for the 3rd Annual SLC Experimental Film and Video Festival. We are searching for movies made from intense personal commitment, which express the the aesthetic, philosophical or political view of the filmmaker without recourse to traditional narrative conventions. Adventurous narrative and non-narrative works are equally encouraged, as well as experimentally minded non-fiction films."

The submission deadline for all works is February 1, 2002. The submission fee is $15. Late entries will be considered if received by February 15, 2002, at an additional $15 surcharge (for a grand total of $30). The festival itself will take place on April 11, 12, and 13, 2002 at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York.

There will be a $500 first prize, $250 second prize, and a non-cash third prize in each of three length categories.

ODORIFIC - exhibition at Crazy Space Gallery Santa Monica, CA

FOR "ODORIFIC" EXHIBITION

At CRAZY SPACE Gallery in Santa Monica, CA

Crazy Space seeks scent-based, imaginative art works for "Odorific," an exhibition of art that promotes experience through the olfactory sense. All work must be self-contained so that it is able to fit on a 2' x 2' shelf or stand-alone to fit in a space 12' high x 2' wide x 3' deep. Works in all media accepted. Works must be non-toxic and have a controllable or self-contained odor - (i.e. wax pomades, scratch and sniff, wearable, masks, etc...) so as not to interfere with the scent of other pieces. Works will be selected for exhibition.

Deadline for submissions is February 2, 2002.

Please send a one-paragraph description of work and any slides, photographs, video or sketches of the proposed piece. Please include an SASE for return of materials. We cannot return work that does not have a SASE.

Exhibition will run March 8 - 23, 2002 with an opening reception on March 8. Artists will be responsible for transporting or mailing of work.
