Photographer and film-maker, Sam Taylor-Wood is regarded as one of today's
most important contemporary women artists. Her work combines elements of th=
e
still and moving image and frequently explores the tensions and erotic
entanglements arising between people in a closed environment. Her panoramic
photographs, such as Five Revolutionary Seconds XIII, have the quality of
freeze-frame and deploy actors and friends across interiors that appear lik=
e
stage sets. Her videos often focus on individuals and examine subjective,
repetitive actions of the body.
Sam Taylor-Wood talks to Tim Marlow, editor of Tate magazine, about her wor=
k
and her new exhibition at White Cube2.

Martin Creed, one of this year's nominees for the Turner Prize
<http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/exhibitions/turnerprize.htm>, is known for
the rigour and purity of his work which often pushes the boundaries of
Conceptual Art to their limits. He frequently disrupts traditional
conventions of display and questions the legitimating function of the
gallery. Controversial pieces have included a light turning on and off at
30-second intervals, sound systems that amplify behind the scene activities=
,
and small blobs of blue-tak placed in the middle of gallery walls. He talks
about the thinking behind recent work.
