NEW: On 26 April: Online Chat
of the 47th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, 3-8 May 2001
How do you choose about 150 contributions from over 3,500 competition
entries? What kind of organisation do you need, what are the criteria? On
26 April 2001, the Festival will, for the first time, offer filmmakers and
curious people from all over the world the opportunity to chat online with
the selection committee about the selection process for the competitions.

Every year, Oberhausen receives more film and video entries, every year,
the Festival receives contributions from almost 100 countries world-wide.
Every film stands for the filmmakers' efforts, stands for their work and
commitment to produce films and videos, some of them under difficult
conditions. Although all entries are available at the Festival's film
market, only about 150 films can be selected for the competitions every year.

How does the Festival's selection committee work? How does the Festival
manage the organisation of the large number of entries, what selection
criteria are being applied? Those and other questions will be answered live
and online by the members of the committee on 26 April 2001 from 10 to 12
a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. CET at www.kurzfilmtage.de.

The online chat is part of the Festival's expanded Internet activities.
These also include the streaming of the nominated videos for the MuVi Award
2001 as well as the online film market catalogue (for authorized users
only) with over 3,500 titles, as of 15 April.
