SKYLLA (AT)
Silvia Fässler ïFFD computer, electronics, guitar
Billy Roisz ïFFD computer, turntable

A long awaited collaboration between these long time associates of
Viennese subculture; Silvia in various curatorial roles and Billy as video
artist. ïFFDSkyllaïFFD is their debut album. It is a monster. A sheering,
scathing collision of computer generated sounds meshed with guitar and
turntable. The results are intense yet bearable, funny but not stupid.
>From the rhythmical excesses to the subtle dronescape, this is a full on
experience.

ANGEL (FI, D, IS)
Ilpo Väisänen ïFFD electronic devices
Dirk Dresselhaus ïFFD laptop
Hildur Gudnadottir ïFFD cello

Ilpo Väisänen (of Pan sonic) and Dirk Dresselhaus (of Schneider TM) have
been playing freeform noise with a tendancy to drone things out since
1999. The whole thing is quite a noman`s landish affair : somewhere
between and in the middle of industrial, dub, new music, indierock, blues
and science fiction soundtracks. From 2004 on they were joined by
icelandic cellist/multiinstrumentalist Hildur Gudnadottir (Lost in
Hildurness, Mum etc.) on a regular basis.

XAVIER VAN WERSCH (NL)

Xavier van Wersch obtained a degree in Sonology at the Royal Conservatory
in The Hague after having studied art and philosophy. His work reflects an
organical approach to the field of electronic music. In his compositions,
performances and installations there is always an element of controlled
chaos. He explores the relation between man and machine by conceiving the
two of them together as hybrid systems in which erratic behaviour is the
principal condition for interaction. Another common theme in his work is
recycling. Like a modern Frankenstein, van Wersch constructs his machinery
from parts of deceased equipment and disfunctional devices.

KINETIC TRIO (PL)
Marek Choà142oniewski ïFFD electronics
Wà142odzimierz Kiniorski ïFFD sax, acoustics
Rafal Mazur ïFFD bass

Kinetic Trio is the group originally erupted from Improvising Artist
activity in Krakow, Poland. Each member from the trio has different
musical background. They are all experimental, alternative, professional
soloists, playing acoustic and electronic instruments. Polystylistic,
precomposed, partly improvised material is the choice and the method of
sophisticated and advanced approach of the group.

UCHIHASHI KAZUHISA (JP) & BURKHARD STANGL & FRANZ HAUTZINGER (AT) & PHIL
MINTON (UK)
Uchihasi Kazuhisa ïFFD electric guitar
Burkhard Stangl ïFFD guitar, electronic devices
Franz Hautzinger ïFFD trumpet
Phil Minton ïFFD voice

Both a musician and an organizer, born in Osaka in 1959. Uchihashi
Kazuhisa started playing guitar at the age of 12, and played in folk and
rock bands. While a student at Osaka University of Foreign Languages, he
learned jazz technique and started playing in clubs and studios. Since
about 1983 he has actively developed music centered on free improvisation,
and expanded the possibilities of the electric guitar by innovating
various sound effects. "At the NEXT festival, he will play a special set
with two well-known personalities of the Austrian music scene - advanced
trumpet player Franz Hautzinger and minimal guitarist Burkhard Stangl.
Furthermore, this unique setup will be joined by key vocalist of the world
improv-scene."

GENTLE EVIL (FI)
Tomi Keränen ïFFD junk electronics
Janne Tuomi ïFFD drums, percussion

ïFFDDrummer Janne Tuomi builds an unceasing rhythmic wave, and noise-sculptor
Tommi Keränen counters with shards of feedback and chunks of dense, choked
static. Both are nimble improvisers. Tuomi finds ways to add intricate
details and stays away from any obvious power drumming, while Keränen
twists his raw electronic tendrils with a deft sense of phrasing and
space, a rare quality in a noise musician.ïFFD (Dusted Review)

DJ TENDRAW (UK)

Circuit bent analogue mayhem from DJ TENDRAW & THE GYPSIES DOG ...
re-routed childrens toys, magnetic hotel keys, feedback, casio keyboards,
and an array of home made "jump loops" , wallpaper textures & things that
I've never seen before. Booked to perform between the bands with the
intention of scaring the living f**k out of them. Their last performance
with us saw them out screaming current NME darlings The Horrors (which is
no small feat) to a raptuous applause. (The More or Less Club)

ïFFDUBRTOVÁ (SK/UK), ...

In frame of Next Visegrad Music project and for the first time at the NEXT
festival, special collaborations of creative musicians from different
countries will take place. Sound Lab Show is the big surprise of the last
festival day, featuring acoustic and electronic improvisor Georgij
Bagdasarov, turntablist Petr Ferenc (e.g. Birds Build Nests Underground),
analog electronics player Péter Szabó (Ovekk Finn) and Monika ïFFDubrtová,

PHIL MINTON (UK) & FERAL CHOIR (SK, V4)
ïFFDtento rok spievam na nexte editionïFFD

Three day workshop and performance, not only for singers but for anyone
who takes a delight in the freedom to experiment. "I encourage
participants to take a vocal leap and explore all vocal possibilities
through exercises and improvisations, over the workshop period, leading to
a concert. The workshops normally begin with laughter, a non-verbal 'vocal
technique' which uses the voice in spontaneous, inventive and sometimes
very extreme way. I know that these workshops have a very positive impact
on the participants, and I spend enough time with each group to be able to
leave a lasting 'legacy' and hopefully a structure in which the resulting
choir can continue after I have left." (Phil Minton)

BRÖTZMANN / PLIAKAS / WERTMÜLLER
Peter Brötzmann ïFFD saxophones, clarinettes
Marino Pliakas ïFFD e-bass
Michael Wertmueller ïFFD drums

Full Blast is Brötzmann with Marino Pliakas of avantcore trio Steamboat
Switzerland on bass and Alboth!s meta-Metal drummer Michael Wertmueller.
As might be expected, this is a no-holds-barred plunge into the turbulent
slipstream style. In lesser hands, lung capacity and stamina might be the
sole merits of such full-on music, but this is the thing itself -
articulate frenzy. Brötzmann has a reputation for bronchial excess but the
content of his coruscating solos seems to gain in substance and definition
as he grows older, and his colleagues are entirerely worthy partners in
this incandescent venture.
